A Hospitality Management degree, an Office Information Technology degree and a new scholarship for technology students are all coming this fall

Buffalo, NY, July 09, 2012 - Bryant & Stratton College Online, a leader in online associate’s degree programs, today announced changes to their degree program offerings for the fall as well as a new scholarship for students in its technology courses. The College is currently enrolling students for its Information Technology with a focus on Mobile Applications Development degree, an Associate in Office Information Technology and an Associate in Hospitality Management – Restaurant & Hotel Services degrees. All classes will begin in September 2012.

The changes in the degree programs are in response to meeting demands in nascent industries, like mobile application development, as well as to better prepare students entering career fields with changing responsibilities. The updates include:

* A new Information Technology with a focus on Mobile Applications Development Associate of Occupational Studies degree that will prepare students interested in an online IT degree to write programs for mobile applications for use on contemporary mobile devices. According to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of application developers is expected to grow 28 percent by 2020. Enrolling in this program will prepare students for entry-level positions with software development companies, business environments and corporate training development organizations in this growing field;

* The launch of an Office Information Technology Associate of Applied Science degree program. The degree program will replace the Administrative Assistant degree offered by Bryant & Stratton College Online. With an emphasis on information technology in an office environment, the new degree program will better reflect the growing number of technology-based responsibilities administrative assistants are undertaking in the workplace;

* The launch of a Technology Careers Scholarship for students currently enrolled in one of Bryant & Stratton College Online’s technology focused online degree programs. Eligible degree programs include Interactive Media Design, Networking Technology, Security Technology and Office Information Technology degree. Eligible and qualified candidates must be enrolled in one of those programs and must be in their first semester at the College. Scholarship recipients will be awarded up to $500 for part-time students and up to $1000 for full-time students for one semester of courses.

In addition to the changes above, Bryant & Stratton College Online will now offer a Hospitality Management – Restaurant & Hotel Services Associate of Applied Science degree. The program will prepare students for leadership roles in settings such as hotels, the food and beverage industry, travel and tourism, entertainment and sport venues, resort and spa services and casinos.

AAA says Real estate sales increases are Good news for Alternative Investors

There has been some good news for those investing in real estate, in the form of stronger US property sales figures, according to Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA), an alternative investment advocacy group.

Boston, MA, July 05, 2012 - There has been some good news for those investing in real estate, in the form of stronger US property sales figures, according to Alternative Asset Analysis (AAA), an alternative investment advocacy group.

The National Association of Realtors has revealed that property sales had increased by over 10 per cent in April, compared with a year earlier. The Association added that sales could be up by as much as 13 per cent overall, by the end of the year.

Analysts believe that improving employment figures and falling mortgage costs are helping the industry get back on its feet, which means prices are rising. “This is great news for anyone who has invested in property over the past few years when prices were low,” claimed AAA’s analysis partner, Anthony Johnson.

“It is still a great time to buy homes in the US for investment purposes, as the market is bottoming out, which means the only way is up,” he added.

In fact, prices rose in 50 per cent of US cities in the first quarter of 2012 and this trend is expected to continue throughout the year. Mortgage rates have also fallen drastically. The average rate on a 30-year fixed rate mortgage a year ago was 4.5 per cent, while is now stands at just 3.66 per cent, according to a Freddie Mac survey.

Anthony Johnson stated, “investing in real estate has become more popular among those who want to diversify their portfolios against risk. It’s understandable that people want something tangible to show for their investments – especially after the economic crisis.

“We also support investment in other alternative asset classes, such as timberland, through firms like Greenwood Management, which runs sustainable plantations of non-native trees species in Brazil.” AAA claims that investing in alternatives can offer a more ethical option than stocks and bonds.

FRA agrees that Brazil Regulations could boost Agricultural investment

Business Monitor International (BMI) has predicted that investment in forestry and agriculture in the Amazon region will be boosted as a result of the new forestry regulations giving people more control over land rights.

Bainbridge Island, WA, July 05, 2012 - Business Monitor International (BMI) has predicted that investment in forestry and agriculture in the Amazon region will be boosted as a result of the new forestry regulations giving people more control over land rights.

Brazil is one of the largest producers of soybeans and cattle in the world and the controversial new rights handed to land owners will make these areas of agriculture more attractive as investment options. This is according to international researchers at BMI whose view is also backed by Forestry Research Associates (FRA), a research and analysis consultancy specializing in forestry investment.

FRA’s analysis partner, Peter Collins, said, ”These new regulations have come at a time when the demand for beef and soy are growing in emerging markets. The regulations mean that more land could be given over to these agricultural activities, which is bound to attract more investment in to the region.”

However, FRA is keen to promote a more sustainable option of investing in non-native forestry plantations in the Amazon region. These plantations, run by firms like Greenwood Management, involve focusing on fast-growing species that are not native to the region. As a result, timber products from these species are more sustainable alternative to the wood from the natural rainforests, which are vulnerable.

“Managing forestry sustainably is something we support,” claimed Mr Collins, who added, “Investing in these plantations, investors can cash in on the growth in demand for raw materials from emerging markets without contributing to the degradation of the region’s rainforests."

There has recently been pressure on Brazilian pressure Dilma Rousseff to veto some of the new provisions, which could lead to a reducing in the farmers’ ability to expand the amount of land given over to agriculture. There continues to be people in favor of the new regulations and those against, the latter of which claim that the regulations will undo all the good work that has been done to reduce deforestation.
