Varsity Tutors Expands Operations to San Francisco, Seeking 100 Tutors

Premier tutoring service offering 1-on-1 personalized academic support for K-12 and college students in the Bay Area

St. Louis, MO, June 24, 2013 – Varsity Tutors, the leading private, in-home tutoring service with 25 metropolitan locations, is expanding its operations to another major metro area. As of June 2013, the company has started offering private tutoring services in the San Francisco Bay Area and is seeking 100 talented tutors for part-time roles.

The academic tutoring and test prep provider operates in many large markets including Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Houston, and Atlanta. As college admissions has become increasingly competitive, the demand for top tutoring and test prep services, particularly for ACT tutoring, has increased. Varsity Tutors is responding to this demand by further expanding its geographic footprint. In addition to San Francisco, other expansion plans are in the works for the summer of 2013.

The new San Francisco tutoring location will cover the entire greater metropolitan area, including San Jose and Oakland. Expanding to the Bay Area had been on the company’s roadmap for several years as it grew into one of the largest private tutoring companies from its headquarters in St. Louis, Mo. Founder and CEO Chuck Cohn said he expects the Bay Area market to be one of Varsity Tutors’ largest centers of operation with 18 months.

“San Francisco was one of the last major U.S. cities left for us to enter. We are launching in three other major metro areas this summer, but my expectation is that San Francisco will be the largest of those markets for us,” says Cohn. “Expansion into locations where we can match the best tutors with students is key to our growth. We believe that we can offer a higher quality service at a lower cost than the existing tutoring companies in the San Francisco market.”

Varsity Tutors was started in 2007 by Cohn while an undergraduate at Washington University in St. Louis. The small, college-based business quickly grew into a market leader with 2,000 tutors and 80 employees nationwide. The company’s tutors specialize in a wide selection of subjects including all academic areas of PreK-12, college, and graduate school courses, as well as test prep for entrance exams (SAT, ACT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT). Tutors are chosen not just based on grades and test scores, but also on how effectively they are able to communicate challenging material.

Varsity Tutors’ San Francisco operations is open for business and taking inquiries.

Gorham Paper and Tissue Announces Specialty Papers Price Increase

Gorham Paper and Tissue Announces $50/ton price increase to offset to offset rising raw material and energy costs.

Gorham, New Hampshire, June 19, 2013 – To offset rising raw material and energy costs, Gorham Paper and Tissue announced today a $50/ton price increase for Packaging and Lightweight printing grades effective with July 15th shipments.

Since the fall, Gorham has experienced double digit price increases in the areas of pulp, PCW, natural gas and power. The costs increases are too great for the company to offset through productivity improvements and cost savings programs.

“Our customers understand our need to balance profitability and competitiveness. We pride ourselves on pricing our consistency in the market; however, a 10-15% increase across the board for fiber and energy is impacting our margins,” said Brian McAlary, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Gorham. “With a lens toward long-term viability, our decisions are building a stronger business that supports innovation, service and capital investment.”

Launched in 2011, Gorham has transformed its business through the installation of a state-of-the-art tissue machine and a sharpened focus on delivering highly engineered specialty papers.

Bunny Sigler Releases New Single “Forgive and Forget” June 18 on all Major Digital Music Platforms

New Single Marks First Collaboration Between Business Partners Sigler and Entertainment Attorney Lloyd Remick

Los Angeles, CA, June 13, 2013 – Grammy and multiplatinum producer/singer/songwriter and recording artist Bunny Sigler has announced plans for his newest single release “Forgive and Forget,” a song written by his longtime friend, manager, business partner and attorney Lloyd Remick, that will be released on all digital music retailers on June 18, 2013. After 40 years of working side by side, Sigler and Remick collaborate for the first time as songwriters to share a story that touches the hearts of many.

“Forgive and Forget” dares to seek its relation to those who have mistakenly experienced a one-time indiscretion, pleading for his love to simply ‘forgive and forget.’ The single will be available on CDBaby.com and iTunes on June 4 and is currently available on Bun-Z Music and Records website at: http://www.bunzmusicandrecords.com.

Four decades later, the two continue to produce music in hopes of inspiring others, but never had Remick proposed the idea of producing his very own song. He came to Sigler with these sorrowful yet beautiful lyrics, and Sigler fell in love with the story. “Forgive and Forget” reaches those who have experienced a one-time infidelity and have from there on out, lived life of regret and pain. This song, and all other songs Remick and Sigler have composed, convey such real-life situations and evoke strong emotion.

“I believe that the music Bunny is singing can help change the world,” said Remick. “I know it might sound a little idealistic, but I believe music has the power to unite us.”

Sigler and Remick aim at providing emotional tales for their audience. In “Forgive and Forget,” they uncover a perspective of the story that has never before been told through song. As for telling real-life stories—this latest single will reveal just that.

Phoeniz, AZ, June 13, 2013 – Deanne DeMarco’s special guest for her high-energy radio show is one of the most high-profile businesswomen in America—Barbara Corcoran of ABC’s hit TV show, “Shark Tank.”

Barbara Corcoran’s credentials include straight D’s in high school and college and twenty jobs by the time she turned twenty-three. It was her next job that would make her one of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country when she took a $1,000 loan to start The Corcoran Group. She parlayed the loan into a multi-billion-dollar business, the biggest real estate empire in New York.

As one of the “Sharks” on “Shark Tank,” Barbara has ponied up her own money and invested in more than a dozen businesses, competing to make those deals for all to see, then shepherding them to success.

Her newest book, “Shark Tales: How I Turned $1,000 Into a Billion Dollar Business,” takes you behind the scenes of her life and business and her ‘seen on TV’ venture capitalism. Her previous best-seller was titled, “If You Don’t Have Big Breasts, Put Ribbons on Your Pigtails: And Other Lessons I Learned from My Mother.”

Barbara is famously brash and blunt, bold and courageous, and a brilliant identifier of opportunity and talent that is often invisible to others.

Deanne DeMarco asks Barbara about the early days of her career and gets her best advice for starting, growing, and expanding businesses, and converting ideas and “dreams” into fortunes. She seeks for Barbara’s advice for building a personal brand and the importance of bringing fun into the business day. And, of course, she gets Barbara to reveal some “Shark Tank” behind the scenes stories.

Deanne DeMarco, who has 20 successful years as a business coach, speech coach and keynote speaker ( http://www.Breaking-Boundaries.com) , said, “Each week I interview extraordinary and inspiring women who may not be household names but are business and entrepreneurial rising stars. For this show I’m delighted to have one of the best-known businesswomen in America share time with me and my audience.”

The special guest for the second half of Deanne DeMarco’s show is Deanne herself!
Deanne has used innovative strategies—drawn from successful experiences as a scientist, college instructor, management trainer, Fortune 500 manager, author and entrepreneur—to help business executives and individuals break through personal and career roadblocks.

This week she talks about coaching. What is it? What are the benefits? What’s the difference between coaching, mentoring, training and counseling? How do you know if you need a coach? And much, much more—including the two-minute business coaching challenge, and the two-minute personal coaching challenge.

Barbara Corcoran and Deanne DeMarco. What a powerful combination. Don’t miss “Today’s Inspiring Women.” Thursday at noon Pacific on the VoiceAmerica Empowerment Channel Radio

Jazz Saxophonist Hulon Releases New Radio Single “Two in the Morning” to Smooth Jazz Stations Across The United States

Smooth jazz and R&B saxophonist Hulon has returned with his newest single, “Two in the Morning” from his latest album After Hours.

Los Angeles, CA, June 13, 2013 – Smooth jazz and R&B saxophonist Hulon has returned with his newest single, “Two in the Morning” from his latest album After Hours. The single is currently available on iTunes and premiered at smooth jazz and urban contemporary radio stations June 3rd with a soon to be released music video to accompany that will be released later in June.

After the success of his debut album, First Impressions, Hulon’s most recent album, After Hours, has combined passion and confidence creating Hulon’s best tracks to date. “Two in the Morning” is the third single off of After Hours featuring Howard Hewitt on vocals who is a Grammy-award winner from Shalamar and Blood, Sweat & Tears. Also featured on “After Hours,” is 2012’s “The Voice” contestant and lyricist Gary Foote on their rendition of the Heatwave classic, “Always And Forever.”

Believing that “versatility is survivability,” Hulon breaks the mold of the typical urban jazz musician by showcasing a variety of styles and blending his love for the emotional healing power of music and the physical healing that he does. From hip-hop and country to orchestral and classical music, he’s influenced by every genre that inspires his versatility. He says, “I want to be inspiring to children and a good role model to them the way I have strived to be with my own kids. I’m really enjoying this journey every step of the way. As with medicine, I get great personal joy and satisfaction having people appreciate what I do. My time in the office is devoted to physical healing. But when I’m recording or playing live onstage, that’s when the spiritual healing begins.”

Domain Name Kello.gg Now on The Market for Immediate Sale

Taking the time to find the best domain name will provide long-term branding opportunities.

Paris, France, June 08, 2013 - Why Buy The Kello.gg Domain Name ?

The Kello.gg domain name is Short, Descriptive and Memorable.

Short with only 7 letters total, versus the comparable dot com with 10 letters. This domain name comes into its own when used in conjunction with SMS and Instant Messaging services, and especially Twitter with its 140-character limit on tweets.

Descriptive, Kello.gg tells visitors exactly what to expect when they visit the website.

Memorable, Kello.gg is easy for someone to remember, sounds familar to visitors (even if they haven't visited the website before), and it can convey trust to prospective clients.

Why Use Domain Name Extensions to Express Company's Name or Product ?

The perfect fusion of creativity and innovation, a domain name hack is an excellent startup domain used and trusted by Apple (Itun.es, Researche.rs), Google (Goo.gl, Ro.me), Microsoft (So.cl, Bi.ng), HP (Gr.am), Instagram (Instagr.am), Bitly (Bit.ly), SocialFlow (Trib.al), Mcafee (Mcaf.ee), Zynga (Zyn.ga), Netflix (Movi.es), TIME Magazine (Ti.me), Huffington Post (Huffpo.st), NY Times (Nyt.ms) Blo.gs (acquired by Yahoo!), Delicio.us (acquired by Yahoo!), Frid.ge (acquired by Google), Mi.lk (acquired by Google), Love.ly (acquired by Facebook), Answe.rs (acquired by Answers.com), Grou.ps, Cir.ca, etc.

Domain name hacks are the best alternatives to dot-com domains and more startups and companies adopting them, making these domain names ever more valuable.

They are easier to type. Given how popular mobile web navigation is now, keeping the domain names short is crucial. Apps may handle a lot of navigations, but if mobile users see a URL somewhere, they would have to type it in. Typing on mobile devices is not as easy as on desktops and laptops. Domain name hacks make it as convenient as possible for someone to type a URL. A shorter domain name also gives more versatility in mobile site design as it easily fits on a smaller screen.

Phoenix, AZ, June 08, 2013 - Deanne DeMarco continues her ground-breaking radio series with two high-powered guests: the female CEO of a multi-million dollar trucking company and a woman who literally wrote the book on procrastination.

Carolyn Gable, a single mother of seven with an unbelievable rags to riches story, and Rita Emmett, best-selling author and “recovering procrastinator” are featured on next Thursday’s episode of Deanne DeMarco’s entertaining, informative and inspiring program, “Today’s Inspiring Women.” The weekly hour-long show airs at 12 noon Pacific on the VoiceAmerica Empowerment Radio network.

Today Carolyn Gable is President and CEO of New Age Transportation, Distribution & Warehousing Inc. It’s a $30 million a year enterprise with 85,000 square feet of warehousing in Lake Zurich, Illinois. It’s a far cry from her first long-term job, working as a waitress for more than a decade. When the restaurant closed for renovations Carolyn was spurred to move on when, with two small children to support. Her new position as a customer service representative at a freight company led a year later to a job in sales and the beginning of a dream.

When the freight industry was deregulated Carolyn took a gigantic risk, starting her own freight company at her kitchen table. Recognizing that a new age was dawning in the trucking business she developed innovative ways to lower costs, track freight and offer excellent customer service. Carolyn credits her years as a waitress for giving her the necessary skills and she even wrote a book called “Everything I Know as a CEO I Learned as a Waitress.” Carolyn, who has received numerous awards for her business and philanthropic achievements, serves on the Fetzer Advisory Council on Business Professions and is the founder of Expect a Miracle, a foundation to support and encourage single mothers.

Deanne DeMarco’s second guest, Rita Emmett, is a professional speaker and author who describes herself as a “recovering procrastinator.” Her first book, “The Procrastinator’s Handbook” sold over 100,000 copies in its first year and has been published in 32 countries. Katie Couric is among the 300 plus interviewers who have questioned Rita about her successful strategies and how she changed from being the self-declared “World’s Greatest Procrastinator.”

Rita says that she was able to get rid of her ‘putting off habit’ and that she can help anyone do the same. Once you break the procrastination habit, she says, you’ll not only get more done and start doing some of the things you have been hoping to do, you will also feel more energized. In her book, Rita gives comprehensive advice on identifying the behavioral styles and patterns procrastinators use for putting things off; applying proven anti-procrastination tips and techniques for achieving goals; and developing strategies to move forward when stuck or when reverting to old procrastination patterns. Rita has also written books on clutter and stress and, in total, has sold 360,000 books worldwide.

Deanne DeMarco, who has 20 successful years as a business coach, professional speaker and management trainer , said, “Each week on the show I interview extraordinary and inspiring women who may not yet be household names but are business and entrepreneurial rising stars or have solid, practical advice for my audience. Carolyn’s personal achievements are truly inspirational and her principles for success can be applied to any business. Rita taps into a subject that affects so many women. So if you’re a procrastinator and want to change you can’t put off listening to the show.”

Deanne DeMarco herself has used her innovative strategies—drawn from successful experiences as a scientist, college instructor, management trainer, Fortune 500 manager, author and entrepreneur—to help business executives and individuals break through personal and career roadblocks.

Scottsdale, AZ, June 06, 2013 – John Ray, a long-time player in the Phoenix real estate scene and “Property Wars” star of two years, partners with local realtor and Phoenix real estate expert Charlie Walters of Walters Realty Group for Flip Phoenix to share their real estate experiences and tips for success with the Phoenix community.

John Ray commented on Flip Phoenix, “We’ve had a lot of interest from the show and decided to hold Flip Phoenix to teach people the ins and outs of getting into the business and what it takes to be successful. I’m not going to sugar coat it, it’s not easy to make huge profits on every deal, we expect a reasonable profit but it takes a lot of work and so much more that will be discussed at Flip Phoenix.”

Charlie Walters of Walters Realty group and host of the Flip Phoenix event added, "Phoenix is a crazy competitive market right now for buyers and it's really difficult to acquire that are a good deal. Investors need a good price. Having education about techniques and ways to compete in a bidding war, investing in real estate or how to profit when prices are up like right now, are really important to know and we'll teach you at Flip Phoenix.

Education is key and there are few places you can get that. No university teaches this."

About John Ray:
John was asked to join Property Wars because of his extensive knowledge in house flipping and his exposure from a well-known foreclosure blog, of which he contributed. When Property Wars asked John to join the show, he declined a few times before deciding he would rather be part of it than watching from the sidelines. John was also excited to work with some of the other stars they added to the show.

John has been on the show for two seasons and is known for his interest in Vintage “fixer-uppers” that have a lot of hidden potential, giving him an edge over other buyers that get scared off. John always keeps a cool head while bidding and doesn’t let old rivalries get in the way of a smart purchase. John said, “I am living my dream. When I see a good property, I still get stoked and excited like it’s the first day. I love fixing up an old house, getting it to look new and selling it to someone who really loves it.” Property Wars airs on the Discovery Channel, Thursday nights at 7 pm. http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-shows/property-wars

Facility Management Program Addresses Need to Sustainably Update our Country’s New and Old Buildings

New Program Launches in June with Subject Matter from the International Facility Management Association

Denver, Colorado, June 05, 2013 – Across America in small towns and thriving cities, a similar issue is cropping up: aging buildings. While older buildings are often respected for their historical nature, there is often a need to update them for structural reasons, aesthetic purposes and even energy usage. In fact, right now The Commercial Buildings Energy Consumption Survey (CBECS) is underway to collect data on the structure, operational characteristics and energy use of 12,000 buildings across the U.S. The data collected is only going to heighten the role of sustainability of buildings, both new and old, around the country.

With new window technology, energy efficiency options, water conservation choices and more, entire cities can improve their sustainability with renovation. Ecotech Institute, the first and only institution entirely focused on green jobs training, is launching its Facilities Management degree in June, which will train professionals to tackle this issue.

The International Facilities Management Association (IFMA), the world’s largest and most widely recognized association for professional facility managers, helped develop the curriculum for Ecotech Institute’s Facility Management Technology degree program. It is an associate’s degree program that will prepare students for careers in the field of facility management, focusing on the operation, maintenance, analysis, auditing and cost of energy management systems. Students will receive instruction that is designed to prepare them to analyze, operate, and maintain mechanical and electrical systems.

According to Ecotech’s Clean Jobs Index, there have been 75,000 jobs posted in the U.S. related to facilities management so far in 2013. To see applicable positions in each state, visit www.ecotechinstitute.com/cleanjobsindex. A sample of possible facilities management jobs that graduates of this program could be qualified for include: Energy Manager, Facilities Manager, Maintenance Supervisor, Grounds and Plant Manager.

Ecotech Institute, based in Aurora, Colorado, now has more than 520 students who receive hands-on training in the growing field of sustainability. In addition to Facility Management Technology, Ecotech currently offers the following degree programs:

* Solar Energy Technology, Associate of Applied Science

* Wind Energy Technology, Associate of Applied Science

* Renewable Energy Technology, Associate of Applied Science

* Energy Efficiency Program, Associate of Applied Science

* Electrical Energy Technology, Associate of Applied Science

* Power Utility Technician, Associate of Applied Science

* Business Administration – Sustainability, Associate of Applied Science

About Ecotech Institute:
Ecotech Institute is the first and only college entirely focused on preparing America’s workforce for careers in renewable energy and sustainability and is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges. Launched in April 2010 in Denver, Colorado, it offers six highly practical renewable energy degree programs that provide graduates with skills valued by today’s alternative renewable energy employers. Classes start once per quarter and applications are always accepted. Financial assistance is available to those who qualify. Ecotech Institute is a division of Education Corporation of America.
