About Dana Carvey:
Emmy-award winning comedian Dana Carvey has maintained an illustrious career. Carvey was born in Missoula, MT. While a student at San Francisco State University, he won the San Francisco Stand-Up Comedy Competition. After his graduation (with a degree in communication arts), he played at numerous clubs in the Bay Area and then moved to Los Angeles in 1981 to pursue his career.

A repertory member of “Saturday Night Live” since the 1986-87 season, Carvey left in 1992 after seven seasons. Carvey is best known for his characters the Church Lady; Hans, of the Hans and Franz body building duo; Garth, Wayne Campbell’s (Mike Myers) ‘Excellent Co-Host’ on the immensely popular sketch ‘Wayne’s World,’ and Weekend Updates Grumpy Old Man.

In addition to these characters, Dana has received widespread praise for his uncanny comedic impersonations of such political figures as Ex-President George Bush, H. Ross Perot, Jerry Brown, David Duke and Bob Dole. He also does impersonations of George Burns, Johnny Carson, Jimmy Stewart, John McLaughlin, Mickey Rooney, Casey Casem, and Regis Philbin.

On television, he hosted the 1992 presentation of the MTV Music Awards, co-starred in two pilots and was a member of the Showtime special “Salute to the Improvisation,” with Billy Crystal, Robin Williams and Robert Klein. In 1995, Dana performed stand-up in his own one hour comedy special on HBO aptly named “Critics Choice ****.” In 2008 Dana recorded his second solo comedy special for HBO entitled “Dana Carvey: Squatting Monkeys Tell No Lies.”

In 1992 Carvey appeared in the blockbuster film “WAYNE’S WORLD,” based on the hit “Saturday Night Live” sketch. The film grossed over $160 million and was produced by “SNL” creator Lorne Michaels. The public demanded a sequel and in 1993 Carvey appeared in “WAYNE’S WORLD 2,” recreating his role of Garth, alongside Mike Myers’ Wayne. The film was hugely successful.

Carvey’s transfer from the small screen to the large screen included roles in Alan Parker’s “THE ROAD TO WELLVILLE,” for Columbia Pictures, Richard and Lili Zanuck’s “CLEAN SLATE” for MGM, and Twentieth Century Fox’s “TRAPPED IN PARADISE.” His early film work includes his debut in “THIS IS SPINAL TAP,” “RACING WITH THE MOON,” “ONE OF THE GROUP” where he portrayed Mickey Rooney’s grandson, “BLUE THUNDER” with James Farentino, “TOUGH GUYS,” with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas, and starring in the comedy “OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS.” In 2004, he starred in “The Master of Disguise” comedy fantasy for the whole family which features Carvey in 36 different identities and speaking 14 different languages as the hapless and heroic Pistachio Disguisey.

Carvey won an Emmy Award in 1993 for Outstanding Individual Performance in a Variety or Music Program. He has received a total of six Emmy nominations one of which was for a guest appearance on HBO’s highly acclaimed “LARRY SANDERS SHOW.” Also, he was honored with The American Comedy Award as Television’s Funniest Supporting Male in 1990 and 1991.

About the Golden State Theatre:
In 1926, a 15,000 square-foot Moorish castle rose on Alvarado Street, to the amazement of locals and visitors alike. A new cinema and live performance venue to rival those in California's largest cities, the Golden State Theatre , which was built by the Reid Brothers, was the definition of an opulent movie palace. After decades of deterioration, it was faithfully restored to its former glory, featuring an Old World grand lobby and mezzanine, one thousand plush velvet seats, state-of-the-art sound, and the indefinable magic of a truly historic setting. B.B. King, Bill Cosby, Willie Nelson, Yes, Patti Smith, Bob Weir and The Smothers Brothers — these are just some of the names that have graced the stage, contributing to the Theatre's new legacy since its renovation and exciting revival. The community is invited to attend a world-class concert or film festival at the Golden State Theatre, or host your own special event here, and become part of its new chapter of history.

The Golden State Theatre is operated by husband and wife entrepreneurs, Eric and Lori Lochtefeld, along with a team of industry professionals from across the country. About Wharf Walks
For thousands of years people have made their living fishing the Monterey Bay, beginning with the Rumsien Ohlone, the Native People of the Monterey area. From abalone to rockfish, everything was fished and utilized and the Monterey Bay was a multi-cultural stew, made up of whalers from the Azores, squid fishermen from China, salmon fishermen and abalone divers from Japan, and Sicilians fishing sardines in the "dark of the moon." This entertaining tour of Old Fisherman's Wharf and the waterfront will take us back in time to explore the history of the Monterey Wharf, early history of the Monterey waterfront, The Rumsien/Ohlone People--Monterey's first fishermen, the abalone industry, whaling the bay and of course, the legendary sardine industry. Discover some of the people and cultures of Monterey's colorful past and hear fascinating stories about Old Fisherman's Wharf and those who worked and walked there. Learn more about the sardine and squid industry, too.

About Tim Thomas
Tim Thomas, fourth-generation native of the Monterey area, is a popular speaker and lively tour guide. New Video Release of The Classic Christmas Song Coincides with Guitarist/Vocalist’s Latest Single, ‘Something Real’, from Debut Album,‘Human’.

Los Angeles, CA, November 05, 2014 - A special Christmas combo from Joseph Eid featuring a cover version of the famous Elvis Presley Christmas hit, “Blue Christmas”, and Eid’s recent new video and single, “Something Real”, is going for adds on radio and set for this season's holiday promotions starting November 10th. Americana-Folk Singer/Songwriter Joseph Eid released his debut full studio album Human in November 2013 and contains the first single, ‘Ready Now.” Eid has been garnering considerable buzz with his music and recently named as one of the 100 Hottest Live Unsigned Artists of 2012 and 2013 by Music Connection Magazine.

Even though, as a legendary and well known Christmas song, “Blue Christmas” has been covered by many outstanding musicians, Eid’s emotional and heartfelt singing style and his refreshing and delicate finger picking guitar sound give a brand new translation to this Christmas hit. As a folk singer/songwriter, Eid knows how to take the best advantage of the pure and clear acoustic sound of a guitar to express his inner world and passion. This version of “Blue Christmas” combined this feature with his emotional and soft male vocal, and the gentle piano fill-ins are like the red cherry on a sundae, making the whole song feels like a warm breeze in the Holiday season. Eid’s release includes not only the sound recording of this song but also a new music video, which will provide new fans and holiday music lovers a musical classic remake as well as a visual into Eid’s world.

“Human,” has been a big breakthrough with professing his craft as a professional musician. Sound of Confusion commented, “Human is a real journey with some touches of magic, all delivered with a charm and craftsmanship that rewards with each play." The album seamlessly blends sharp, melodic pop lyricism with traditional folk sensibilities evoking folk troubadours both past and present. It overall has a peaceful and soothing feeling, while every song is a strong and passionate self-expression from the artist. The delicate and emotional guitar work and intricate but relatable lyrics has become Eid’s trademark.

The second song from Eid being serviced to radio and media/video outlets is his latest single “Something Real” from his debut album “Human”. Eid recently released a music video of “Something Real,” which is based on a personal experience that also happens to be universal with communication via technology and social media. A visually simple yet emotionally complex music video, “Something Real,” is meant as a commentary on our constant need to be plugged in and how this has changed the way we communicate as well as taken away the value and the weight of words and human connection. This idea is demonstrated in the video as Eid sings to and tries to connect with lifeless, robotic people. The twist at the end of the video illustrates that no one is immune to the digital disease – including Eid.

About Holman Ranch Vineyard and Winery:
Located at the north eastern tip of the Carmel Valley Appellation, the family-owned Holman Ranch resides approximately 12 miles inland from the Pacific Coast. Immersed in history and romance, the ranch has not only proven to be an excellent growing location for our vineyards but also for the Tuscan varietal olive trees which have flourished under the temperate climate. Holman Ranch estate-grown wine varietals are planted on approximately 19 acres of undulating terrain. The wines produced are unfined and crafted to deliver the true varietal of the grape from harvest to bottle. The climate and terroir of the appellation has played a critical part in the success of their wines. The warmth of the inland valley coupled with the cooling marine layer has proven to be an ideal microclimate for the production of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. The vineyards' Burgundy Clones have thrived from the perfect blend of ideal climate, southern exposure and thin rocky soils.

The estate wines of Holman Ranch include: Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Rosé of Pinot Noir. Carefully hand-harvested, cold pressed and bottled, the Extra Virgin Olive Oil produced from the fruits of our trees has a delightfully distinctive flavor.

Holman Ranch: Where the Past is Always Present. Tucked away in the rolling hills of Carmel Valley, historic Holman Ranch provides a unique and memorable setting for weddings, special events, family gatherings, corporate retreats, and team-building events. With its charming gardens, stunning mountain views and serenity, this private estate affords old-world charm while providing modern day conveniences. This stunning property includes a fully restored stone hacienda, overnight guest rooms, vineyards, olive grove, horse stables and more. www.holmanranch.com

* Historic Building Through the Ages
* Use of Sustainable Resources
* Art and Artifact Creation and Restoration
* Q and A

About Test of Tyme:
Known as two of the most sought-after artisans and consultants on the Monterey Peninsula, Don Whitaker and Scott Coulter and their hand-picked group of sub-contractors, have worked together to build or renovate many of the largest estates in the area. Due to their passion and talent, artistic vision and top craftsmanship, they have been honored to work on 300-350 of the largest and most beautiful homes and structures in Carmel-by-the-Sea and Pebble Beach, including 20 homes on the ocean side of Seventeen Mile Drive in Pebble Beach as well as the Cypress Point Golf Course Club House and Pebble Beach and Tennis Club. Most recently, they have worked on a 28-room mansion near the Lone Cypress Tree. Their work, simply stated, is created to stand the Test of Tyme!

One of their specialties is in the replication and creation of Old World-inspired finishes (1680’s – 1740’s European style), as well as the creation of original pieces designed for a specific home or space. They also restore paintings and other works of art.

Since the establishment of Test of Tyme in 2008, Scott Coulter and Don Whitaker’s artistic work has been featured in the prestigious Perspectives on Design California, a publication on creative ideas shared by leading design professionals. This is a showcase of the state’s finest architects, artisans, homebuilders, landscape architects, interior designers, craftsmen, and other industry specialists, under whose creative direction the extraordinary is made possible. This publication is part of a popular series that spans the Southwest, Chicago, New England, Florida and other design-savvy regions in North America and Europe.

Test of Tyme consists of artisans whose passions lie in the transformation of a home into an embodiment of three-dimensional art. According to Scott Coulter, “We are a community of craftsman and artisans that transform dwellings into habitable works of art. From the hand laid tile individually treated to match flawlessly with one another to the revival of a damaged painting thought to be untreatable. Rustic furnishes, antique revitalization, old-world finishes, varnishes, and custom painting.”

Test of Tyme can transform every aspect of the average home into a marvelous homage to the old-world escapes captured off the pages of a European novella. The craftsmanship and artistic vision of every member of this team poured into the very foundation of each of their passionate projects. But the artistic skill of Test of Tyme extends beyond the palette of the metamorphosis. Their skills including restoring other art such as damaged sculptures, paintings, or manipulating unique pieces of art to fit with the motif of your home. Rejuvenating and recovering the vibrancy of art that was believed to be beyond saving, or modifying other pieces to synchronize fluidly to ambience of your living areas.

About Don Whitaker:
A partner in Test of Tyme, Monterey native Don Whitaker is also the owner of The Golden Hammer in Pacific Grove providing cabinetry and custom millwork, including furniture design. He earned local, state-wide and international awards for his carpentry work and has over 40 years of experience, primarily on the largest homes in the Carmel and Pebble Beach area. His passion for perfection is reflected in his wood artistry seen in doors, beams, cabinets, floors and more. Don is a graduate of Monterey High School and attended Monterey Peninsula College. He began work in his field at the cabinetry shop that his father managed.

About Scott Coulter
A partner in Test of Tyme and also the owner of Time Honored Finishes, Scott is legendary for his custom painting and extraordinary “time honored finishes” that transform the interior and exterior of a home into a work of art for generations to come. Specializing in rustic furnishes, antique revitalization, Old World finishes, varnishes and custom painting. His surfaces are scraped, distressed, shaded, brushed, aged and inspired by Scott’s vision. Scott also skillfully restores damaged sculptures and paintings, as well as modifying other pieces to synchronize fluidly within a home. Together with Don Whitaker, surfaces featuring wood, paint, plaster, stone, effects and iron are perfectly finished to suit an estate’s unique character.

SAFE International™ Launches Self Defense For Real Estate Agents in Milwaukee, WI USA

The owners of SAFE International™ have announced they are launching a self defense program which is tailored specifically to the needs of real estate agents. The real estate profession carries with it many potential safety risks, from meeting new prospective clients to conducting open houses and showings.

Lisbon, WI, November 02, 2014 - SAFE International™, which has been in the forefront since 1994 empowering people to save their own lives through the use of self-defense concepts, believes its current focus on empowering people to protecting themselves is needed now more than ever with recent violent events in the real estate profession.

“Unfortunately, we live in an increasingly violent society, and we, here at SAFE International™, want to not only share our knowledge and experience with others, but while in the process of sharing we are also empowering people throughout Canada, the United States, and globally to defend themselves,” said Christopher Roberts, Managing Director of SAFE International™.

Even though their mission at SAFE International™ is to teach real self-defense skills to as many women, children, and men, from 12 years of age to 82 years of age, SAFE International™ does offer corporate self defense courses to those in working environments that are considered higher risk.

Just some of the topics that are addressed during a 2 or 4 hour Real Estate Safety seminar are distraction techniques used on real estate agents, car safety, safety in the home, dangers of letting income rule over intuition, how attackers choose their victims, importance of body language, the good and bad of cell phones, plus much more!

At SAFE International™, they are not offering a martial arts program. Rather, they are offering what they consider to be “a practical and realistic approach to personal safety.”

“What sets our approach to self-defense training apart from all other programs is how we present our courses with real-life simulated scenarios, with hands-on techniques and with humour, yes… humour,” added Roberts, who believes that while the subject matter is a very serious one, SAFE International™ knows that learning in a safe, fun, and enthusiastic environment is the best way to retain what is being presented.

MAX Agency Press Release – October 29, 2014

Featured in this week’s press release is MAX Agency Toronto Actor and Talent Frank Vaz.

Toronto, ON, November 01, 2014 - Featured in this week’s press release is MAX Agency Toronto Actor and Talent Frank Vaz. I asked Frank to tell us about himself and discovered some very interesting things about this Military Man turned Model/Actor.

“I was in the Canadian Military for twenty-two years. I’ve also done a lot of community and technical work, technical meaning engineering work that has helped the community and I won the Governor General’s Award for that. So that’s on the career side. Personally, I’ve done a lot of traveling. I studied Engineering in Alberta and through the Military in addition to in-house training and courses that deal specifically with military tactics. We go through a bunch of different technical courses including Physicals and Marksmen tests to ensure we are maintaining an excellent physical standard. My twenty-two years with the military included twelve years in the United Nations and the remainder was done with Special Forces and Elite Airborne Engineers. Between 1990 and 1995 I was a part of the Prime Minister’s security detail, specifically Jean Chretien, Brian Mulroney and Kim Campbell’s staff team and I accompanied Jean Chretien to Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Mexico.”

It is safe to say becoming an actor and a model is something completely new for Frank. I asked Frank how he decided to join MAX Agency.

“I was scouted at an event. We were chit chatting with the scout and she asked me if I’ve ever tried modeling? She said, ‘I work for MAX Agency and we’re looking for middle aged men from different ethnic categories. Would that be something you’d like to try?’ A couple of weeks later I got a call, arranged to get my portfolio done and became a part of MAX. It’s been great and I certainly don’t regret it. I know my success will be due to my agent.”

Frank is very optimistic about his career in the entertainment industry and it is something he plans to do for the rest of his life. Frank went on to tell us about his last project,

“Project drugstore was a print and commercial campaign for Shoppers Drug Mart. The print component was exciting. They had to take several shots and we did many wardrobe changes to get different looks. It was in the Harbourfront area of Toronto. The staff, stylists, production and photography team were great. It was relaxed and I didn’t feel like I was in a print shoot. I got to wear different glasses and ties and I got to smile a lot. There was good chemistry on the set and the overall project turned out really nice.

The commercial component required a lot of takes and it was in the early hours of the morning. It was a typical shoot with a lot of lights and a lot of changes with different takes and props and no props. We had thirty-six or some odd outtakes like what you might see on you tube. They fed us and made sure we were hydrated. Everyone was smiling. The commercial director was around us and very concerned making sure we were alright. Everything turned out pretty good.”

Frank is very happy with his experience in the industry so far and looks forward to continued success in the business,

“I’m very happy with MAX. I feel it’s a part of my family and the Agency that will propel me into the industry. I want more auditions and parts, modeling, videos, different genres and more exposure because I enjoy it so much. More modeling would be nice and if given the right opportunity I think I’m sure I can do them proud. I see myself doing some major roles that will have an impact.”

MAX Agency’s Bookers are currently looking for new Talent! If you are interested we highly recommend visiting www.maxagency.com and filling out an Application. Wishing MAX continued success in the industry we’re looking forward to the Fall and future press releases featuring individual talent and projects and finding out more about MAX!

Doug Ranno Music™ and Musical Harvest® Salinas, California

Northern California song writer Doug Ranno in association with Franklin Street Studios and Redpath® Music, has released a new music album with a team of A list musicians called The Harvesting Crew™.

Ranno releases new version of Part of Me song replacing Vietnam with Afghanistan in the words.

Salinas, CA, October 29, 2014 - Long time BMI singer song writer, Doug Ranno with his band The Harvesting Crew™, in association with Franklin Street Studios, has released his first studio produced and mastered, music album, featuring an A list team of musicians he likes to call The Harvesting Crew™. Some of the musicians have played and recorded with the likes of The Doobie Brothers, The Steve Miller Band, Great American Taxi, Nora Jones, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, The Jefferson Airplane, Lacy J Dalton, just to name a few. Ranno has written or co-written 11 of the songs on the album he calls The Musical Harvester® and the music is receiving powerful reviews from California to Nashville. You can see a link below of the band recording a songs from the Musical Harvester™ Album in the studio and the Album is now available at most digital stores including ITUNES. You can also listen to the 13 songs from the album at the Drop Box link location below or by going to Doug Ranno Music on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/DougRannoMusic) and like the Doug Ranno and The Harvesting Crew™ Band Page to receive a free non downloadable ReverbNation stream of the songs.

Music Producer Jim Lewin said about the Musical Harvester Album, “Working on the Musical Harvester record has been a ton of fun. We had this amazing group of country musicians to create a backdrop for Doug's rich baritone voice, and then he brought a great collection of songs which touch on various different styles within a modern country and blues context. Some Nashville country, some California country and some Delta Blues mixed in. Feedback on the album has been great.” Jim Lewin, Musician and Producer at Redpath Music.

In addition to being a very recognized agricultural business leader for years in California and Florida, a successful entrepreneur in the fresh produce industry, Ranno has also started Musical Harvest® (WWW.MUSICALHARVEST.COM) a unique custom made guitar business that makes uniquely designed guitars shaped like fruits and vegetables and who knows what else. Musical Harvest® guitars have raised thousands of dollars at charity events such as The Nashville Lifting Lives Foundation, The Florida Migrant Farmworkers Charity, Nashville Sound Kitchen’s We are Building Lives veterans charity, Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, Several children’s Food Allergy charities, School Music programs and numerous community support programs.

Until now, Ranno’s best known musical work was a song written in 1986 titled Part of Me. The song is about the thoughts that run through the mind of a recently returning Vietnam Veteran as he is preparing to get married. Part of Me was a popular 45 record in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s and was used to raise funds to build the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in the Capitol of California, Sacramento California’s Capitol Park. In addition, the song Part of Me was used as background music for the NBC Emmy nominated documentary titled Perceptions (ASIAN AMERICANS IN THE VIETNAM WAR).

Ranno and the Harvesting Crew decided to update the lyrics of the song replacing Vietnam with Afghanistan and it is amazing how the song still works. The fact that almost 30 years later the lyrics to this song are still relevant and touch people affected by war.” You can view a video and interview with Ranno about the song recorded at Franklin Street Studios in Monterey California below.

Fire Up Your Creativity With SPY (NYC Spark Your Creativity)

SPY offers not only a photography lesson but also a journey to unleash participants' potential to be creatively adventurous, while building skills to increase success in the workplace, such as strategic problem solving for professional development.

New York, NY, October 26, 2014- Sapere vedere’ is an Italian expression, literally translating to "knowing how to see." For the launch of Spark Your Creativity (SPY) for groups, founder Roberta Fineberg uses photography as a medium for boosting creativity in a customized group experience geared towards enhancing discovery, imagination, and sapere vedere to develop skills that benefit professional achievement and personal satisfaction. Fluent in French, proficient in Italian, combined with English, her native language, Roberta Fineberg concurs that “Spy attracts audiences from around the globe.”

With a dslr, point and shoot, or iPhone, participants are led on an inspirational photo hunt to discover unknown and known treasures of New York City, using the rule of thirds, negative and positive space, while exploring intuition and personal vision. Photo techniques assist participants in creating amazing results, while the focus on composition opens minds to fresh perspectives for capturing the essence of surrounding environments. The sessions not only teach ISO, shutter speed, aperture settings, shooting in manual, highlights and shadows, depth of field and other essential components - but also SPY finds the source of students’ creativity and helps them tap into new ways of thinking. SPY techniques provide creative yet feasible strategies that can be implemented immediately, say, in the boardroom, classroom, in the office, at workplaces or in organizations.

Before SPY, Roberta Fineberg created Images and Words, a class that emphasized learning language through images, discussion, and storytelling. “By integrating writing, art, photography and technology,” Ms. Fineberg explains, “the SPY methodology developed into a creative and analytical approach to problem solving.” With over 103 workshops and counting, reviews from SPY attendees have been overwhelmingly positive, citing the benefits of a workshop:

"I’ll never look at photography and taking pictures the same after my workshop with Roberta.” ~ Delphine, after a 2-hr private night photo workshop

“I received a camera for my birthday and a class at NYC Spark Your Creativity...and it was such a great experience that I keep going back. Every class teaches me something new and allows my creativity to flow a bit more. Roberta is a magnificent teacher - patient, kind, funny, and sincere! I would recommend for everyone - from beginners to seasoned individuals. You can fly solo, with friends or with your partner. This is a great opportunity to learn new things, take great pictures, explore New York and meet new & interesting people. I would highly recommend it!” ~ C.C.

Originally intended to host 99 workshops, SPY has reached its goal and continues to transform, due to the founder’s boundless energy, enthusiasm and over 20 years’ experience as a seasoned photographer.
