JA Carlton's Adventure "Wednesday's Child" Suggests Dark Political Schemes

Set only a handful of years into the future, speculative fiction piece "Wednesday's Child"; by novelist JA Carlton, paints an apocalyptic picture of America's future born from today's economic and sociopolitical antics.

Austin, TX, March 19, 2012 - "Wednesday's Child" the first book in JA Carlton's "Freedom Fighter" series, attempts a prophetic look at the results of the current American sociopolitical climate and one possible effect on our near future.

The series explores the manifest consequences of social narcissism and political vagaries on the unsuspecting population of today's intentionally misinformed Americans.

Book one, "Wednesday's Child" introduces the reader to a band of heroes led by a genetically engineered soldier named Jade McKay who comes under investigation for the murder of her Commanding Officer. The investigation is a ploy by a shadowy government agency with its own sinister agenda, to demand her extradition back into their hands.

In a twist of fate, while on a mission Jade learns the true motivations behind her Commander's murder as well as the motivations behind the enemy's efforts to retrieve her and use her as a "new Eve" for their eugenics program.

In a last ditch effort to protect herself from extradition, Jade must expose just enough of the government's plans to the remaining population to motivate her fellow Americans to action without forcing those behind the scenes to destroy what's left of the country's people.

Drawing on classic 'science fiction' elements like time-travel, to real-life genetic technology; Carlton paints a terrifying picture of corporate driven social and political ambition gone awry. At the same time, she manages to consistently shine an honest light on the best qualities of the people the survivors of this corporate created holocaust sought to destroy.

Author JA Carlton Interview Shines Light on “Nick, of Time; Heroes of the Line Book 1”

During a recent Global Talk Radio interview, Austin based author JA Carlton details the core life-lessons at the heart of her YA novel: Nick, of Time; Heroes of the Line Book 1. The interview also draws much needed attention to the Austin Children’s Shelter, Carlton’s charity of choice.

Austin, TX, February 23, 2012 - Thriller writer JA Carlton, in a recent interview with Global Talk Radio, shared some of her sources of inspiration and her plans to continue her “Heroes of the Line” child abuse prevention campaign.

She also revealed one of several new projects she’s working on, the most recent is a non-fiction ‘personal fulfillment advocacy program’ she calls, “Ten Simple Steps to a New, True You”, Carlton is scheduling talks all around the Austin area with multiple spring and summer dates to be announced.

The new project was inspired by Nick, and Frankie Emerson. These two brothers from her Heroes of the Line series, are destined to lead a band of heroes in a war against the Living Dark, and its sinister minions the Schades.

“By book 3, Nick and Frank are finding themselves pressured by some of the other heroes as well as some of their allies, to do things in a way that’s not right for them.

The boys have certain abilities that allow them to see things differently, which is one of the reasons they’re the ones who have to lead the heroes. One of the hardest things they’re going to have to do is to stick to their plan without alienating their allies. It dawned on me that it’s the same balance we all live with daily.”

Carlton’s Global Talk Radio interview was just the first of several publicity events scheduled for this year. Currently she has at least one fund raiser tentatively slated for March of 2012, a 2 month Virtual Book Tour beginning in May, and a series of readings planned to be released on You Tube.

The “Heroes of the Line” campaign is still being run on the “Nick, of Time” Facebook page. Thanks to the great success of her Book-A-Month Giveaway last year Carlton is considering another run this summer, though she will be offering one of her E-Books to each month’s winner instead of a hard copy in an effort to reduce paper waste and resources.

The common thread among Carlton’s books is that the main protagonists (even Randy Custon, “Broken”s serial killer) have all endured horrific childhood traumas. Critics have argued that her writings are exceptionally graphic for little other purpose than ‘shock value’.

Carlton pays her critics little attention, “My stuff’s pretty tame compared to what kids are inundated with through video games, movies and even music videos. I write cautionary tales, warnings to think about how what we do affects the people around us. Most importantly though, they’re a message that abuse can be overcome, and survivors of it can be heroes if they choose.”

Carlton’s first release under Uneak was the Second edition of her psychological thriller “Broken”, a story inspired by actual events that follows a serial killer as he spirals out of control on his quest to confront the person who tortured him as a child.

Novelist JA Carlton’s “Wednesday’s Child” Considered Speculative-Fiction

A new release from thriller writer JA Carlton, called “Wednesday’s Child”, takes place within our own future and is based on the tech and timbre of today’s social, political and economic climates, but the battles waged on its pages are timeless.

Austin, TX, October 05, 2011 - “Wednesday’s Child”, the first in Carlton’s “Freedom Fighter” series, is set in 2055. The United States as we know it today lays dead and bloody on the face of the earth. The story’s hero is Jade McKay, a genetically engineered ‘super-soldier’ who knows nothing of the enemy’s plans for her destiny as the new “Eve”.

Stolen before birth by the scientists commanded to create her, Jade was raised among the struggling survivors of an engineered apocalypse, learning the nature of her enemy without ever knowing the truth of her own origins. One moment in a hidden mountain base has given her access to the true agenda that simply began with the U.S. but has no plans to stop until every nation on the globe has been ‘re-designed’.

With time running out Government agents will do anything they can from torture to blackmail, to get Jade back into their clutches before she can inform the world about the government’s true plans. They even go so far as to send an agent back in time to ensure there is nowhere for the scientists to escape to before Jade is born.

Carlton’s blatant comparison of the ramifications of today’s partisan political antics, and the harm it’s causing to the American citizenry, paints a dark portrait of government sanctioned genocide. The very real possibility that today’s citizens are fighting for not just basic human rights, but the very right to exist is at the heart of the story.

Last week JA Carlton’s “Heroes of the Line” Book-A-Month Giveaway announced its first winner. The giveaway will continue on a monthly basis through December with the final winner receiving a copy of all four Carlton books.

The giveaway is part of Carlton’s “Heroes of the Line” child abuse prevention campaign. Carlton has pledged 30% of her personal proceeds toward the prevention of child abuse in America and is giving away a hard copy of the book of the winner’s choice as an award for joining the campaign via a purchase of any of her titles.

The selection of books include her psychological thriller “Broken”, a story inspired by actual events that follows a serial killer as he spirals out of control on his quest to confront the person who tortured him as a child.
