Bryant & Stratton College Named to List of Military Friendly Schools

Only 15 Percent of American Higher Education Institutions Awarded This Distinction in the 2013 List Released by Victory Media and G.I. Jobs Magazine

Buffalo, NY, September 24, 2012 - Bryant & Stratton College has been recognized once again by Victory Media and G.I. Jobs Magazine in the media group’s annual list of Military Friendly Schools. Only 15 percent of U.S. higher education institutions were named to the 2013 list, which honors the colleges, universities and trade schools that are doing the most to advance the education of America’s military service members, veterans and families and their academic success. The list highlights schools with world-class programs and policies for student support on campus, academic accreditation, credit policies, flexibility and other services for students that are active duty, veterans or family members of military.

The list was compiled from research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 VA-approved schools nationwide. The rankings also incorporate a survey from more than 3,000 student veterans. This is the fourth year for the list, and each year schools taking the survey are held to a higher standard over the previous year. The survey results were independently tested by Ernst & Young LLP based upon the weights and methodology established by G.I. Jobs.

“We are proud to be recognized as a trusted education institution for many of our nation’s heroes. From military service members to veterans and their families, we strive to support those who have given so much in service to our country and we are dedicated to maintaining the best level of academics and services for our military,” said Lee Hicklin, the College’s Military Coordinator. “Our campuses offer a wide variety of resources to address the needs of these students, including the Salute to Spouses Scholarship, student veterans groups, military support staff, special programs and even a website for military spouses written by military spouses – www.salutetospouses.com.”

Bryant & Stratton College has a strong reputation with military service members, veterans and their families. Bryant & Stratton College has 18 campuses across New York, Ohio, Virginia and Wisconsin and offers programs nationwide through its Online Education division. For information about the specific resources and programs available to active duty service members, veterans and family members of the military at each of its campus locations, visit www.bryantstratton.edu for contact information.

Vietnam Fast-growing High-end holiday Destination for Aussies

Vietnam now has world class hotels and resorts, beaches and cuisine, in addition to its natural beauty, rich history and traditional culture. The country receives 300,000 Australian tourists yearly, and the number of tourists increases an average of 10% annually.

Hanoi, Vietnam, September 24, 2012 - Australia is a very multicultural society and many Australians are familiar with Vietnamese food and culture. Australians travelling to Vietnam are looking for a more authentic experience and seek to have a deeper understanding of the country’s culture, food, history and everyday life.

While Thailand is geared more toward mass market tourism, Vietnam is a destination that is attractive to a more selective class of travelers. Vietnam is becoming more and more recognized as a safe and favored destination for high end Australian tourists, thanks to direct and convenient flights and improvements in the tourism infrastructure.

The new slogan of Vietnam tourism, “Timeless charm”, was created with an aim to attract travelers from Australia and elsewhere, who wish to experience the country’s defining characteristics: Thrills, nature, heritage, festival, pristine, enjoyment, scenery and essence.

Australia is in a strong financial position, with unemployment easing and low interest rates, plus a strong dollar. As long as the dollar remains near its current relative value, all overseas destinations remain attractive to Australian travelers.

“Australia is a great market for us and we have beautiful products for Australian tastes and preferences, and we target the right clients with personalized products and services. We have increased the number private small groups we serve, primarily with tailor made holidays. These groups are generally either from 25 to 35 years old or 40+, the latter group having more disposable income. Australian tourists choose Vietnam for their vacations for safety, affordable prices, authenticity and convenient direct flights. With our marketing efforts and commitments, we will attract more Australian travelers who wish to experience Vietnam in style and luxury, and encourage them stay longer. Typical stays are 10 or 14 days, and in 4 and 5 star hotels. With our new representative office in Australia for the Australian and New Zealand markets, we are targeting double digit growth in this market for 2013." said Pham Ha, founder and CEO of Luxury Travel Ltd.

Australian market is among the top ten markets of Luxury Travel Ltd. The company serves 2% of total Australian tourist arrivals in Vietnam in 2011 and enjoys an increase of 20% in visitors annually. Luxury Travel Ltd.’s booking record indicates that Australian travelers prefer Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Hoi An Ancient Town. They also want to visit Halong Bay, Cat Ba Island, the Mekong Delta and Sapa, while many also combine Vietnam and Cambodia in one trip.

“Except for AIME in Melbourne, there are no major travel trade shows in Australia, so we have joined VNAT and Vietnam Airlines in their road shows to promote our upscale products. Our representatives work hard to promote destinations, educate local travel agents, and generate public interest in Vietnam as a holiday destination. To help our travel agents and tour operators to sell our Vietnam luxury tours, I invite travel professionals to do a 10 day familiarization trip to Vietnam. Participants receive a certificate confirming their status as a ‘Luxury Travel Specialist’ after the trip." said Pham Ha. “This is the perfect way to learn more about Vietnam and some of the most dynamic new products available for 2012 – 2013. This tour blends innovative touring with hotel inspections to give agents insight into the destinations and become true luxury travel advisors."

Hanoi–based Luxury Travel Ltd. (www.luxurytravelvietnam.com) has announced joint efforts with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) in order to promote luxury travel products in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia from 8 to 13 October, 2012. Luxury Travel Ltd. is a long established Asian specialist in luxury privately guided and fully bespoke holidays in Vietnam and the Indochinese Peninsula.

StudyAbroad.com Releases Results of New Survey; Findings Reveal Student Concerns, Market Growth Opportunities

Financial concerns continue to be the largest barrier to study abroad; while use of financial aid has increased, nearly one in five students still do not know that it is an option

Chester, PA, September 24, 2012 - Results of a recent survey from StudyAbroad.com uncovered the top decision factors, concerns and interests of prospective study abroad students. Additionally, the data revealed market growth opportunities among high school students and post-graduates, as well as areas study abroad providers can improve, such as communicating financial aid options and inquiry response time. The survey of 850 prospective study abroad students was conducted in August.

According to the survey, more than one in four respondents (27 percent) cited location as the most important factor when considering a study abroad program, followed by subject (24 percent), when the program took place (20 percent), duration (16 percent) and program format (13 percent). In terms of location, the study reports that nearly two thirds of the top 20 countries are in Europe, and five are English-speaking. The top five countries by student interest are England, Spain, France, Italy and Australia.

The research also found that though study abroad is still most popular with undergraduate students, nearly half of those interested in study abroad either haven’t been to college yet or have already graduated, suggesting a market growth opportunity. 20 percent of the students surveyed were in high school and 23 percent had already graduated college. Programs that tailor their approach to target these markets will be better positioned to respond to this opportunity.

“As the last few years have seen, international experience is increasingly attractive to employers, so more and more students – and at varying stages of their educational career – are interested in spending time abroad to gain a global perspective,” said Chuck DelCamp, product manager at StudyAbroad.com. “This survey highlights key trends and offers valuable intelligence to help study abroad providers better serve students, as well as identifies areas of opportunity.”

One area of opportunity lies in financial aid education. The survey showed that students are still most concerned about the costs of study abroad. Among those who self-identified that they were “still deciding” on a program, 62 percent listed price as their primary hesitation. However, the data also show that there is an information gap when it comes to available financial aid. Though more than two thirds of students said they planned to or already used financial aid to study abroad, 19 percent of students said they “didn’t know I could” use financial aid, when asked. There is still room to improve financial education and bridging the disconnect between student perception and the reality of paying for their study abroad experience.

Other decision-making factors that come into play when students decide where to study abroad include the program’s focus, housing, the provider’s reputation or internship opportunities. The survey also found that by directly connecting with students, program providers can help students overcome these concerns by providing additional information. 51 percent of students who chose study abroad said they had received a personal phone call, email or mailing and that timely correspondence was “very important.” The survey discovered that students who are contacted directly by a program after submitting an inquiry are 21 percent more likely to enroll in a study abroad program. This is an area where providers could improve their service by personally contacting students and offering relevant and timely information.

For more information about the study or for a copy of the report detailing the complete findings, contact Chuck DelCamp at cdelcamp@educationdynamics.com.

It is stepping out as the text asks for ‘a higher note,’ to redefine the traditions in our art that need new fueling.”

Organica Music Group Recording Artist Margo Rey Releases New CD “Habit”

Margo Rey Prepares For Her Upcoming National Holiday Tour With Dave Koz

Beverly Hills, CA, September 20, 2012 - Organica Music Group is pleased to announce the release of Margo Rey’s highly anticipated CD, Habit. The album features Margo’s new Top 20 charting single “Between Us,” as well as her recent hit song “Let the Rain.” The latter, co-written by Ms. Rey and the legendary John Oates, remained on the charts for an astonishing 21 weeks, making it Billboard’s “Hot Shot Debut” and additionally earning her kudos in the magazine’s “Bubbling Under” column. The duo also teamed up on the stunning cut “Saturn Returns.” Oates sings on both tracks and he provides an ideal complement to Rey’s powerful yet nuanced vocals. Listeners closest to it claim that Habit is its own brand of sonic luxury and Rey emerges as a force of nature — in heels no less.

In addition, Margo is preparing for her upcoming national holiday tour with Dave Koz, which is certain to please her diverse and loyal fan base. Based on her track record, Rey’s following is understandable. In less than a two-year span she has delivered five hits in diverse genres that include Adult Contemporary as well as Dance and Pop. She also charted two #1 Dance hits and if that’s not enough, Rey also generated an original Christmas hit.

The holiday tour kicks off on November 23rd with all dates found below. The Dave Koz and Friends Christmas Tour will be a high-energy tour featuring not only Margo Rey, but David Benoit, Javier Colon and Shelia E. Koz comments, “It never ceases to blow me away, how much people love holiday songs—as evidenced by our 15th anniversary of this tour! This year especially, we’ll try to fit in as many favorites as possible and add our own unique touches along the way.”

Reflecting on the direction of Habit Margo explains: “I wanted something ‘lo-fi’ as opposed to the cloned sounds of today’s pop culture environment. I needed my music to sound like me rather than the equipment it was recorded on. Plus, I feel a huge affinity — love affair even — for the singer/songwriter era of the seventies and eighties.” Ms. Rey employed a technique as simple as it is novel in today’s recording environment. She gathered extraordinary musicians in a room and they recorded (equally extraordinary) music together. If that doesn’t sound radical, it should — and Habit underscores the point. It’s a CD that never leaves the human vibe behind. It revels in it and, if anything, deepens it.

Margo has produced a collection of songs that reverberates with a gamut of emotions. Greed, love, lust, doubt, remorse, obsession and crazed vulnerability are all present — in abundance. “I hope listeners respond to the penetrating pulse in each of these songs. They’re an exploration of my contradictory feelings over the past two years.
Roll all of those emotional tangents into a set list and you have, well, something that I hope will become a “Habit.”

The album unleashes thirteen songs, all of which are original. One exception is a gorgeous cover of The Zombie’s hit, “She’s Not There.” If you think you’ve heard the song before, think again. This version has more down-under burn than most people can handle. But it gets better. Ms. Rey will be on tour. So hang on. Or, better yet, let yourself go. www.MargoRey.com

Habit was recorded and mixed at Rusk LA by Elton Ahi, mastered by Yossi Shaked, produced and arranged by Margo Rey in collaboration with Elton Ahi and Chris Wabich.

Organica Music Group is a boutique media company with four divisions that include:  music; stand-up comedy; publishing; television and film. OMG’s distributor is Universal Music Group. HealthEdSolutions.com to Healthcare Pros: Get Certified for Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month

Online Healthcare Certification Provider Encourages Healthcare Professionals and First Responders to Update ACLS and PALS certifications

Lincoln, Neb, September 18, 2012 – During Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Month this September, Health Education Solutions (HES), a leading provider of online healthcare certification courses, encourages healthcare professionals and first responders to update their life support certifications.

It is estimated that more than 2.5 million Americans have atrial fibrillation and that by 2050, 12 million Americans will be diagnosed with the condition. HES has launched an Atrial Fibrillation Awareness Special Section to help healthcare professionals and first responders stay informed and educated about atrial fibrillation care. This series of articles is available in Health Education Solutions’ online research library.

“Because atrial fibrillation is the most common arrhythmia, and incidence continues to rapidly rise, healthcare professionals and first responders need to be equipped with the latest emergency care procedures in order to provide the best possible medical treatment,” said Melissa Marks, president of HES. “At Health Education Solutions, we are committed to providing the latest science in our life support courses, and delivering these courses in easy-to-navigate, convenient formats makes it as easy as possible for individuals providing lifesaving care to stay in-the-know.”

An atrial fibrillation diagnosis significantly increases an individual’s chances of experiencing heart failure. To help healthcare professionals and first responders prepare to respond to cardiovascular emergencies such as heart failure, HES offers a series of online emergency care certification courses. For more information, view advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certification course details and pediatric advanced life support (PALS) certification course details.

Atrial fibrillation is also a major factor in stroke risk, and it is responsible for 15 to 20 percent of ischemic strokes. Because atrial fibrillation has strong ties to stroke risk, HES encourages professionals to think about getting certified to increase their stroke awareness as well. A variety of (AHA) stroke care training courses are available at HealthEdSoutions.com, including Stroke Pre-hospital Care Online, which is available at HealthEdSolutions.com/courses/stroke-pre-hospital-care-online.

HES also offers the American Heart Association’s (AHA) HeartCode ACLS Part 1 course, as well as online basic life support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) training, to help healthcare professionals and first responders prepare to respond to cardiac emergencies.

HES’ online research library offers a series of educational and informative articles about atrial fibrillation, as well as data about heart diseases, information, resources, trends and news related to healthcare and first responder certification. To learn more about HES’ resources for healthcare professionals and first responders or to try one of HES’ ACLS or PALS practice tests, please visit HealthEdSolutions.com.

First Ever John Lennon Double Fantasy Bermuda Tribute Charity Concert September 21

The Event Featuring Heather Nova, Maxi Priest, and Roy Young, Also is the Multi-Media Launch of The Book and CD ‘Lennon Bermuda’ and a Double Fantasy Sculpture by Bermudian Artist Graham Foster, Commemorates The Ex-Beatle’s 1980 Summer Trip to Bermuda, Which Inspired the Songs of His Landmark ‘Double Fantasy’ Album

Hollywood, CA, September 16, 2012 - Thirty two years after John Lennon’s sailing trip to Bermuda sparked the creative renaissance that inspired the final album released in his lifetime; the island celebrates the late legend’s enduring spirit and vision with the “John Lennon Double Fantasy Bermuda Tribute,” an all-star charity concert named for that landmark recording.

The show, which takes place at the Bermuda Botanical Gardens on Friday, September 21 at 8 p.m., will feature a wide array of performers, including Heather Nova, Maxi Priest, Biggie Irie, Judie Tzuke, Roy Young, Chewstick, Rachel Brown, Joy Barnum, Paul Muggleton, Bailey & Tallula Tzuke, Robert "Sai" Emery, Christina Frith, Jonathan Frith, Bailey Outerbridge, Steve Easton, Michael Cacy and others. Net proceeds from the concert will benefit Bermuda Charities

Since 1982, the world has celebrated September 21 as the “International Day of Peace.”

The event also marks the release of several commemorative multi-media items, including the star-studded Lennon Bermuda CD and launch of a Lennon Bermuda book.

The double CD includes 32 Lennon and Lennon-McCartney classics by many of the artists participating in the concert, in addition to Paul Carrack and Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono. The project, which retails for $20.00 and will also be available on the Lennon Bermuda website (www.doublefantasybermuda.com), includes a bonus video of “All You Need Is Love.”

Visitors to the John Lennon Double Fantasy Bermuda Tribute are also invited to view the new Lennon sculpture (also called “Double Fantasy”) outside the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda in the Bermuda Botanical Gardens. It was created by Bermudian artist Graham Foster, who is best known for his huge mural “The Hall of History” inside the Commissioner's House at the Bermuda National Museum in Dockyard. The two-story, 1000 square foot interior mural depicts five centuries of Bermudian history and took approximately 7000 hours (over 3 years) to complete. On November 25th 2009, Her Majesty The Queen, officially opened the Hall of History mural and on this occasion was presented with a painting by the artist.

The sculpture was unveiled in May as part of the museum’s “Imagine The Art of John Lennon” art exhibit.  Foster’s iconic image of Lennon also appears on the Double Fantasy Bermuda T-shirt, available for $20 at the event and in the shop section of the website.

On August 22, PRS For Music, the collecting society representing 90,000 songwriters, composers and music composers, became an official sponsor of the Bermuda tribute concert. PRS for Music has been present in Bermuda for a number of years promoting the value of copyright and raising awareness about the importance of music licensing which ensures that creators of musical works can earn a living. A team from PRS for Music are working with government departments, business leaders, music users, broadcasters and key stakeholders to discuss copyright issues, listen to concerns and understand what work needs to be done to improve the awareness of the requirement for music licenses in Bermuda and to highlight the continued importance of the Bermudan music industry.

Karen Buse, Director of International from PRS for Music, says, “We are delighted to be supporting such a fantastic event and tribute to one of the greatest musicians and British songwriters the world has ever known and enjoyed. We felt this was a great opportunity to be involved in something special which brings local and international music talent together and puts live music in Bermuda on the world map.”

The Lennon-Bermuda story is a remarkable chapter in the singer’s final year. In June 1980, Lennon left Newport and became a passenger on the Megan Jayne for a five  day sailing voyage to Bermuda that would change his life. Prior to his adventure to Bermuda, fans the world over had begun to worry about Lennon, as his drive for writing and creativity lacked vigor. The pressure to produce quality music, the pressure of his family and troubles got the best of him and his creative energy for songwriting suffered. Eventually the pressure and the reclusive lifestyle led to a self-imposed hiatus—a period he chronicled on Double Fantasy songs like “Watching the Wheels.”

During this time, Lennon started to further explore his lifelong fascination with sailing. Lennon immersed himself in the culture of sailing, learning the ropes and even acquiring a small boat for himself. After consulting with Takashi Yoshikawa, then the leading authority on Ki, Lennon was told to sail to the southeast to overcome the negative shadows casting over him.

After agonizing days at sea with twenty-foot thrashing waves, forceful winds and ultimately facing the threat of life or death, Lennon arrived in Bermuda a different man from the one who left Newport. From seasickness to being the captain at one point and the uncertainty of life, Lennon later cited the journey to Bermuda as a life altering and inspirational experience that was a major part of the catalyst for the end of his five year song writing block.

Arriving to Bermuda felt like an accomplishment, and spotting land was like seeing the gates finally open before him and leaving the journey behind them. The combination of the prospect of death with the sun and the sand inspired new music and lyrics that marked the revival of Lennon’s creative spirit. Lennon spent the following weeks with passion and enthusiasm as he wrote his final songs. Double Fantasy, his first recording in five years, was named after a flower he observed in Bermuda. He returned home not only with new songs but with a new vision and enthusiasm for life itself.

John Lennon’s legacy has been honored numerous times by musicians throughout the world, but the Double Fantasy Bermuda Tribute—the concert, statue, book and CD--is the first official celebration of his intimate connection to the famous island.

Flag Display Cases for September 11

Families of military veterans receive American Flag from the United States Armed Forces upon death or retirement of the veteran.

Deer Park, NY, September 13, 2012 - Families of military veterans receive American Flag from the United States Armed Forces upon death or retirement of the veteran. If the veteran is a martyr, the flag presented carries a special significance and needs to be kept and displayed in a specially crafted burial flag display case. Every year, around 600,000 flags are presented to families of veterans belonging to Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard and Marine Corps. Flag display cases are also used to correctly display and preserve flags presented to deceased firefighters, police officers and other dignitaries for their service towards the country. Flag is also presented to retiring veterans and usually are kept in retirement flag cases. Very few people however are aware of the significance of the military flag cases. Keeping the burial or retirement flag properly folded, preserved and displayed is the least that can be done to honor the sacrifice or services of these people.

For decorated veterans, their medals and flags can be housed together in a military flag and medal display case. If you wish to house some sort of document (letter or certificate) and a photograph as a memory along with the burial flag, you can opt either for flag and document case or flag shadow box for this purpose. For retiring veterans and paramilitary forces personnel’s, a retirement flag and certificate shadow box would be more appropriate.

Flag display cases usually are made of oak, walnut, mahogany or cherry wood and come in different shapes and sizes. For instance, a funeral flag display case is triangular in shape which can accommodate a standard government issued flag which is properly folded according to the traditions. This flag case either can be placed on a pedestal or mounted on wall with special kits. Metal, brass or glass plates on the flag cases can be engraved with names, service details and remembrance messages using lasers. Depending on your requirement, you can select and order an appropriate flag case from wide array of range available with us. If you are looking for something special and would like to further customize the flag, get in touch with us and we would be glad to help you out. Honor the departed, let their sacrifices be remembered.
