Arriving in Vung Tau, the capital of Ba Ria Vung Tau Province, travelers will visit the White House Palace (a summer residence of the last emperor Bao Dai), offering a wonderful view of thebeach and the city.

Travelers will visit Niet Ban Tinh Xa, Nirvana Meditation Retreat and Thich Ca Phat Dai, a Buddhist shrine. They will also visit a French-built light house and the giant Jesus Christ image as optional choices.

FRA Welcomes Georgia Sustainability Ruling

A new executive order signed by Gov. Nathan Deal in Georgia will ensure that the region’s forests are certified as ‘green’ in a move that has been praised by FRA.

Bainbridge Island, WA, August 23, 2012 - A new executive order signed by Gov. Nathan Deal in Georgia will ensure that the region’s forests are certified as ‘green’ in a move that has been praised by Forestry Research Associates (FRA).

The signing of the order is also intended to help the region boost the number of new buildings that are awarded LEED green building certification. The move will expand the definition of sustainable timber to include timber form forests certified under the American tree Farm System and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative. Until now, only buildings made from timber certified by the Forest Stewardship Council could be eligible for LEED green building certification under the US Green Building Council.

As well as being supported by FRA, which advocates sustainable forestry in all its forms, the move has also won praise from the Georgia Forestry Association. The Association’s president, Steve McWilliams, said, “The governor has taken what I think is quite a stand for thousands of private timberland owners in the state by saying that we’re not going to let our wood be devalued by a policy wherein the end result of the quality of the product that goes into the building is substantially the same.”

FRA agrees that timber from forestry that has been managed sustainably should always be used as a preference to timber that has been sourced from non-sustainable sources. It also agrees that sustainability should not just be limited to FSC certification and that green building policies should be opened up to allow for other accreditation systems, such as those held by many of Georgia’s forests.

“Sustainability should not just mean ‘FSC-accredited’”, stated FRA’s analysis partner, Peter Collins. He added, “Any timber from forestry that is managed sustainable, through managed plantations such as those operated by Greenwood Management in Brazil and Canada, for example, should be usable in green construction projects.

GoingOn Kicks Off “Connected Educator” Webinar Series on Aug. 28 with Session on Faculty Commons

Free Webinar Will Discuss Varying Models of Institution-wide Faculty Commons Being Used to Improve Faculty Communication, Connection and Collaboration

San Francisco, CA, August 21, 2012 - In recognition of August as Connected Educator Month, GoingOn Networks today announced that it will kick off its free “Connected Educator” webinar series on August 28th with the session, “Benefits of Deploying an Institution-wide Faculty Commons: How CUNY, National University and Academia.edu are Utilizing Social Technologies to Improve Professional Development, Curriculum Sharing, Grant Collaboration and Broader Faculty Communications.” The 45-minute webinar begins at 2pm ET/11am PT on Aug. 28 and it will also be offered again at 2pm ET on September 18. Registrations are currently being accepted on the GoingOn website.

In these two sessions, Jon Corshen, CEO of GoingOn Networks, and Dr. Colin Marlaire, Director of the Faculty Center for Excellence in Teaching and Training at National University, will explore varying models of deploying an institution-wide Faculty Commons by examining the approaches of CUNY Faculty Commons, National University’s Faculty Network and consumer offerings such as Academia.Edu.

“With so much attention focused on online learning, the potential of social technologies to transform faculty communications and collaboration has often been overlooked. But today, many institutions are beginning to recognize the power of creating a common online space where faculty can connect, share ideas, develop multi-disciplinary curriculum and discover opportunities for collaborative work,” said Corshen. “For school administration, Faculty Commons offer a dramatically better way to manage communications, replacing antiquated portals, list-serves and ‘institutional SPAM’.”

In fact, earlier this month in a video about Connected Educator Month, U.S. Department of Education Secretary Arne Duncan remarked on the importance of educators connecting with one another in online social environments. In his remarks, Secretary Duncan said, “We know that online professional learning through communities and networks is powerful, particularly when done in collaboration with a school’s professional learning community.” He continued, saying: “The model of continuous learning and problem solving within these online spaces is integral to teaching and leading in the 21st century.”

GoingOn Networks serves a spectrum of education institutions including colleges and universities as well as K-12 organizations such as New Teacher Center, National Writing Project and Reach Associates. While Connected Educator month is largely a celebration of connecting educators in the K-12 grades, GoingOn recognizes the value and benefit of educators working with one another to share best practices and collaborate at all levels of education, including at the university and college level.

To help higher education faculty members understand the benefits of participating with their colleagues in an online social environment, GoingOn developed the Connected Educator webinar series. During the Aug. 28 and Sept. 18 sessions, participants will:

* Understand the basic design & features of today’s Faculty Commons

* Examine the various uses, benefits and resource savings of a commons-based approach

* Learn how to avoid common challenges and pitfalls of implementation and adoption

* Gain a better understanding of how a Faculty Commons fits within your broader technology landscape, as well as different deployment and integration models

As recently stated in CUNY’s Faculty Commons Quarterly, “[the Commons model] assumes a definition of faculty professional development as something done by faculty, not something done to them.”

Space is limited for these free sessions. Professionals from the office of CIO, academic affairs and continuing education, provosts, chancellors, deans of faculty and others interested in attending either session should go to the following link to register:

For more information about GoingOn, visit www.GoingOn.com.

About GoingOn Networks, Inc.;

Timber Prices Growing "Thanks to Asian Housing Boom", says FRA

Timber prices are increasing in the US because the demand for lumber continues to grow in Asia, according to FRA and research from the Claymore Beacon Global Timber Index.

Bainbridge Island, WA, August 22, 2012 - Timber prices are increasing in the US because the demand for lumber continues to grow in Asia, according to Forestry Research Associates (FRA) and research from the Claymore Beacon Global Timber Index.

The figures show that log exports from the US to Asia increased by 5.2 per cent in the first three months of 2012 and analysts believed that the boost to demand came as a result of the booming global housing market.

“Growing economies, like China and India, are all hard at work building new homes for people increasingly moving into urban areas to take the newly created jobs in these regions,” explained FRA’s analysis partner, Peter Collins. “Lumber is one of the main building materials used in these countries and they are shopping millions of tons of logs in form elsewhere to meet demand, which is great news for timber and forestry investors worldwide.”

An example of the house-building boom in China comes from the latest figures from Xinyuan Real Estate Company, which reported growth of 73.53 per cent for so far in 2012.

Now is a great time to invest in timberland, according to FRA and other forestry investment experts. The market for housing in the US is also looking to be improving, which will mean the domestic demand for timber logs will also increase over time.

“Timber is a great medium to long-term investment solution for those who want a low-risk portfolio,” stated Mr Collins.

Investing in forestry through sustainable plantation projects, such as those run by firms like Greenwood Management in Brazil and Canada, is a popular option. These plantations investment plans allow people to directly buy forestry land with as little as $10,000. The plantations are already in operation and the cyclical growing model means returns start to be seen by investors before their specific trees come to maturity.

To assist parents, Veritas Prep, the largest global provider of test prep and admissions consulting services, has outlined five things every parent can do to help their student ace the SAT and become a more competitive college applicant.

1. Encourage Your Student to be Self-Motivated - While it's great that you bought your son or daughter some SAT prep books or an SAT class, it may all be in vain if your child is not motivated to do well on the SAT on his/her own. Parents are only an external motivator for children; scores will start to skyrocket when students have an internal drive to do well. To help foster that drive, have your child identify three reasons why he or she wants to score well on the SAT. For example, do they want to gain admission to a competitive program? Or earn a significant scholarship? By creating a list of reasons and goals, students will be better able to self motivate and if they begin to lose focus you can remind them of what they’re working toward.

2. Simulate Real Testing Conditions - You know the cliché: practice makes perfect. But in reality, perfect practice makes perfect. And in order to practice perfectly, you should make sure your student mimics test day conditions when taking an SAT practice test at home. This means timing every section, no TV/internet/cell phone, 5-10 minute snack breaks every hour and nothing on his/her desk except a pencil, calculator and water bottle. Help your student know what to expect on test day so there are no surprises.

3. Teach Your Student New Vocabulary - The SAT is an exam that requires little memorization because it primarily tests higher order thinking skills. However, a scholarly vocabulary is one asset students must have to ace the SAT. As part of your student’s SAT practice routine, write an SAT "word of the day" on the refrigerator or in another area of the house that everyone can see each morning. To make it more fun, challenge your family members to use the SAT vocabulary word in at least one sentence throughout their day. Quiz your student regularly to make sure they retain previous days’ and weeks’ words as well. Note: make sure you use words from SAT-specific vocabulary lists rather than generic vocabulary lists.

4. Subscribe Your Child to the Official SAT Question of the Day - There is no company that produces more realistic questions than the organization that makes the SAT itself: the College Board. Everyday the College Board releases a real SAT question through its website. The Official SAT Question of the Day is not a throwaway problem, but an authentic SAT question. Your student can sign up to have the question e-mailed to his/her inbox, making sure SAT prep is a part of their daily routine. Students will have a bank of real SAT questions that they can use to improve their skills by preparing with questions exactly like the ones they’ll see on test day.

5. Ditch the High School English or Math Textbook as a Prep Tool - Traditional high school English and Math classes do not prepare your student for the SAT. The SAT is an exam that can be systematically prepared for using SAT-specific strategies. Have your child get ready for the exam using SAT preparation material, not classroom material that barely relates.

“Parents shouldn’t underestimate the importance of the SAT,” said Shaan Patel, Director of SAT Programs at Veritas Prep and one of the few test takers in the world to achieve a perfect 2400 on the SAT. “The 4-hour SAT exam is worth just as much in the college admissions process as the 4,000+ hours students spend in high school earning their GPA. By following these five steps, parents will be able to better support their students as they prepare to take what is perhaps the most critical test of their high school career.”

Patel improved his SAT score from 1760 to a perfect 2400, earned more than $237,000 in scholarships and co-authored the Veritas Prep SAT 2400 program. Recently, McGraw-Hill published his book, “SAT 2400 in Just 7 Steps.”

Tom Mower Sr. chooses Whole Child as Sisel International’s cause

Tom Mower Sr. knew that most charities monies raised went to salaries and expenses and few funds actually went to the cause.

Provo, Utah, August 19, 2012 - Tom Mower Sr. chooses Whole Child as Sisel International’s cause.

When Tom Mower Sr. saw Karen Gordon on television he reached out to her and asked about her charity and how he could be more involved. Tom Mower Sr. knew that most charities monies raised went to salaries and expenses and few funds actually went to the cause.

Tom Mower Sr. wanted to know if he made donations that the money would be actually used to help the children in orphanages all over the world. After this conversation Tom Mower Sr. decided to get involved in Whole Child and sits on the board and is one of the largest contributors to the organization.

Whole Child International is a U.S.-based non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2004. Whole Child focuses on improving the quality of care for vulnerable children worldwide by working within childcare institutions and orphanages.

Collaborating with state and local governments, Whole Child leverages existing childcare systems to build culturally specific infrastructures that afford children the opportunity to fulfill their developmental potential. Whole Child programs are based on the two biggest contributors of inadequate care: caregiver education and training, and organizational structure. Whole Child programs address the “greater risk of psychopathology as well as poor social-emotional and physical development” of institutionalized children. These programs, developed in conjunction with university scientists and policy analysts, target the cycle of abuse and neglect that stems from poor early childhood care. To elevate the quality of care provided to institutionalized children, Whole Child works with existing childcare institutions and implements caregiver education and training, organizational change, and administrative modification. These changes ensure that the children receive nurturing, loving care, and that their emotional and developmental needs are fulfilled.

Whole Child’s model is based on the theories of Hungarian pediatrician Emmi Pikler (1902–1984), the Program for Infant Toddler Caregivers and from the Reggio Emilia approach to Early Childhood Education. The Pikler Institute, in Budapest, Hungary, was founded in 1946 to care for children orphaned and abandoned during the Second World War. Pikler’s methodology involves increasing opportunities for meaningful attachment and bonding between caregiver and child through “continuity of care.”

Continuity of care ensures that children have one consistent caregiver instead of multiple caregivers over a long period of time. It additionally creates of small groups assigned to a single caregiver to replace larger, more chaotic populations randomly assigned to and often non-continuous staff. Research has found that children with secure attachment relationships with their caregivers are more likely to play, explore, and interact with other adults (Raikes, 1996) [2]. Conversely, more frequent changes in caregivers have been reported to be associated with negative child outcomes including high levels of distress (Cryer et al., 2005) withdrawing behaviors and higher levels of aggression later on (Howes & Hamilton, 1993).

Tom Mower former owner of Neways takes Sisel International to New Heights

Tom Mower founded one of the largest network marketing companies of all time Neways by providing the best products science had to offer it is still a very large company.

Provo, Utah, August 17, 2012 - Tom Mower former owner of Neways takes Sisel International New Heights! Tom Mower founded one of the largest network marketing companies of all time Neways by providing the best products science had to offer it is still a very large company. Tom Mower sold Neways and has created what people are calling the BEST opportunity ever to come through network marketing. Sisel International is being hailed “the greatest home business opportunity of all time.”

Never before in the Network marketing industry has a company started so massive.
SISEL has the largest pharmaceutical grade manufacturing facility of its kind in the U.S., upholding the highest standards; containing R&D staffing 18 full time chemists, food scientists etc. The facility is Organic certified, green certified & cGMP certified. Products are toxin free, many are gluten free, organic and non-GMO. SISEL is debt free, privately owned & also manufactures for over 100 other companies. Many companies claim to make their own products but most have manufactures private label their products and then they must pay to warehouse them. As multiple companies are closing doors as quickly as they open them, it is imperative that you ask all the questions and get the answers for yourself. See “it” with your own eyes & do your own due diligence.

Tom Mower was genius when he founded SISEL International by cornering this market in nutraceutical manufacturing. SISEL manufactures for 40+ competitors in the industry, who in turn cover the overhead for SISEL to formulate new product lines, expand globally & payout extremely generous commissions.

In doing so Tom Mower and his company SISEL International’s overhead is paid for by the “private label” manufacturing revenue generated. Thus SISEL is debt free with low overhead, they have a HUGE advantage over their competition & are able to payout industry record commissions (67% of every dollar) as well as continue R&D for producing cutting edge products.
