MADD “Crash Car” Exhibit and CHP Start Smart Program to Come to CIG Insurance’s 2nd Annual Community Safety Saturday™ September 6, 2014, in Monterey, California

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) hopes its dramatic exhibit will influence behavior to stop drunk driving. CHP Public Information Officer, Jaime Rios will talk to teens and parents about the Start Smart Teen Driving Program.

Monterey, CA, August 14, 2014 – The MADD Central Valley Chapter will bring the dramatic "Crash Car" Exhibit to CIG Insurance’s 2nd Annual CIG Community Safety Saturday™. Parents and teens will have the opportunity to learn about the CHP’s Start Smart program, a driver safety education class which targets new and future licensed teenage drivers between the age of 15 - 19 and their parents/guardians. CIG Community Safety Saturday will take place at Capital Insurance Group, 2300 Garden Road, on Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

MADD can see a future without drunk driving
The “MADD Crash Cars” are visual educational tools presented with the intention to change behaviors and attitudes concerning the dangers of drinking and driving and riding with an impaired driver. The “Crash Car” Exhibit also addresses the excessive use of speed and the failure to use seat belts, and explains the roles that each of these factors play in the injury or death of loved ones.

The MADD booth will feature graphic displays of auto accidents. Volunteers will distribute informational material related to the dangers and prevention of drunk driving. Victoria Flores, MADD Chapter Leader and Victim Advocate, explains, “Over 10,000 people in the United States are killed by drunk drivers every year. On average, someone is killed in a drunk driving crash every 51 minutes. In 2011, 226 children were killed in drunk driving crashes. These tragedies are 100% preventable."

CHP believes education is a key to teen driving safety
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for teens in the United States and CIG Insurance is committed to helping to keep teen drivers safe.

Parents and teens will have the opportunity to learn about and sign up for the CHP Start Smart teen driving program at CIG Community Safety Saturday. Jaime Rios, Public Information Officer, California Highway Patrol remarks, “One of the things that teens need to realize is that a vehicle becomes a deadly weapon when in the hands of someone who is not being responsible. Both Teens and their parent or guardian attend the class together. We want them coming out of the class realizing that their actions don’t just affect them --they affect passengers, other drivers, families and friends.”

Kathy and Fred Forgnone lost their daughter, Vanessa, in a car crash in 2002. Since then, they have been volunteering and speaking to teens and parents at classes and at CIG Community Safety Saturday events. Kathy Forgnone remarks, “I think the classes elicit conversation between teens and parents, probably on the way home from the class and at the dinner table with the whole family - there are real ‘heart to heart’ discussions.”

Arne Chatterton, CIG Vice President of Field Operations & Business Relations explains, “We are committed to spreading the message about driver safety classes for teens and making sure there is communication with parents. Programs like the CHP Start Smart Class make quite an impact in every community they touch.”

CIG Community Safety Saturday was developed by a CIG Insurance employee in 2010 and has been held throughout California and Nevada ever since. The event features activities, demonstrations, and educational services designed to improve the safety and security of children, teens, families, and communities. Buying vs. Leasing for Your ASC

The startup of an ASC or other outpatient surgery center is a long and difficult process for prospective owner operators.

Dallas, Texas, August 13, 2014 - The startup of an ASC or other outpatient surgery center is a long and difficult process for prospective owner operators. One of the more difficult decisions that arise early on is the choice that an owner must make between buying a property and leasing space for their center.

The Ambulatory M&A Advisor published an article covering this topic going through the pros and cons of both sides. Dr. John Gomez, Medical Director at Rapid-Med Urgent Care Center, and Adam Maciak, President and CEO at Boston Urgent Care, offer comments that help explain the different scenarios and considerations that an owner should consider.

“If you’re somebody who doesn’t have a background in real estate, I think it’s a better idea to lease, but you still have to know what you’re getting into when you sign that lease,” Maciak said. “I would advise having an experienced attorney review and help you negotiate your lease. A favorable lease can save you significant money and headaches over time. You need to clearly understand the terms of your lease. But, if you are a real estate savvy person, have the ability to purchase, and understand the market you are going into, my advice is to always buy.”

The Ambulatory M&A Advisor is an online publication that covers the most up-to-date trends and topics surrounding ambulatory care center deal making, including information on investment banking in the ambulatory care realm. Vendange Carmel Inn and Suites Carmel-by-the-Sea’s Only Wine Themed Hotel Launches New Wine Themed Room By Holman Ranch Vineyards

Vendange Carmel Inn and Suites has partnered with 14 local Monterey County wineries to create a unique guest experience celebrating the bounty of Monterey County’s vineyards.

Carmel, CA, August 13, 2014 – Vendange Carmel Inn and Suites has partnered with 14 local Monterey County wineries to create a unique guest experience celebrating the bounty of Monterey County’s vineyards. Each winery sponsors one room or suite, providing its own creative touches. From the McIntyre Vineyards room with its impressive 100-year-old section of grapevine to J. Lohr’s plush bathrobes, every winery’s room offers a signature luxury experience.

This August, Vendange Carmel Inn and Suites launched its newest wine themed room by Holman Ranch Vineyards.

Background on Holman Ranch Vineyards:
• Holman Ranch is located at the north eastern tip of the Carmel Valley, California. Holman Ranch estate-grown wine varietals are planted on approximately 19 acres of undulating terrain. The wines produced are unfined and crafted to deliver the true varietal of the grape from harvest to bottle. The climate and terroir of the appellation has played a critical part in the success of their wines. The warmth of the inland valley coupled with the cooling marine layer has proven to be an ideal microclimate for the production of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. The vineyards' Burgundy Clones have thrived from the perfect blend of ideal climate, southern exposure and thin rocky soils.

• The estate wines of Holman Ranch include: Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and RosĂ© of Pinot Noir. Carefully hand-harvested, cold pressed and bottled, the Extra Virgin Olive Oil produced from the fruits of our trees has a delightfully distinctive flavor.

The Holman Ranch Vineyards room brings the rustic flavor of Holman Ranch to quaint Carmel-by-the-Sea. The room incorporates design elements similar to what you find on the ranch and provides a comfortable, homey and unpretentious charm! Don’t miss the artwork adorning the wall of the Holman Ranch Vineyard room. You are transported to the vineyard overlooking the beauty of Carmel Valley!

Vendange Rooms Overview:
• The cozy rooms have sleek, modern bathrooms finished with imported Spanish marble.
• Views of both the Inn’s beautiful gardens and the Carmel skyline are plentiful.
• Sleeping areas are appointed with memory foam-top beds, deluxe linens, and high-definition flat screen televisions - not that you’ll want to stay indoors.

Cottage Suite:
• The separate Cottage Suite offers a generous 650 square feet of living space. With a California King bed, 50” high definition flat screen television, gas fireplace and kitchenette, it’s the perfect place for a honeymoon or romantic weekend getaway.

Wine Themed Rooms:
• Blaire Estate
• Holman Ranch Vineyards
• Dawn’s Dream
• Galante
• J. Lohr
• Joullian
• Manzoni
• McIntyre
• Otter Cove
• Pierce Winery
• Tudor
• Twisted Roots
• Ventana
• Cima Collina

Wine Room Highlights:
Twisted Roots King Suite
Twisted Roots believes in letting the grapes speak for themselves. They feel that the work in the vineyard is where the wines get their flavor and overall complexity. As "Green Growers" they follow sustainable farming practices throughout the entire wine making process. In creating the Twisted Roots room, winemaker Josh Ruiz took the same philosophy to design as he does to making wines. Canvas pictures from the Twisted Roots vineyard adorn the walls, custom artwork made from barrels, rod iron and wine bottles show case the bar and more!

Ventana Vineyards:
Ventana Vineyards believes great wines are made in the vineyard, and the Ventana Vineyard has the perfect combination of water, soil, climate, art and science to create superb, world-class wines. Our success is evidenced by the number of awards that we have won over the years on wine made from this remarkable property. In fact, wines from our Ventana Vineyard have earned more medals and awards than any other single vineyard in America. When creating their Ventana Vineyards wine themed room they brought the story of the vineyard to the room.

• Custom canvas prints grace the walls telling the story of the vineyards.
• The winemaker’s story can be found on the room for all to enjoy.
• A Ventana Vineyards wine barrel has been converted into a custom snack bar full of delicious Ventana Vineyard logoed snacks and wine!
• The bed has a logoed throw and the walls have actually small vines from the vineyard affixed to them.

J. Lohr:
Flavorful wines, quite literally “wines full of flavor” are the mission at J. Lohr. J. Lohr’s unwavering focus on flavors sounds so simple, yet it’s surprisingly complex. Achieving the best flavor demands total control, every step of the way, and is the result of planting each site to its ideal grape variety and applying artisanal winemaking techniques, including extended maceration, barrel and malolactic fermentation, among others. When you stay in the J. Lohr room you soak up the flavor of the vineyard. From grapevine wreaths and a barrel on the balcony that offers the perfect table top to enjoy some wine and cheese to art from the vineyard and a custom J. Lohr wine display, you will as if you have been transported to the vineyard.

Additional Rooms with Unique Features:
• McIntyre Vineyards brought in a 5 foot vine from the vineyard that is the masthead for the bed as well as created custom glass lamps etched with the McIntyre wine label. Truly spectacular to view!

• Cima Collina has their vineyard artist create custom painting for the room made from wine barrels and rod iron as well as creating their own logoed bed side stand.
Amenities:

• The Inn offers breakfast daily and wine tasting on the weekends.
• Wines that are typically available only in partner wineries’ tasting rooms are also available to guests for purchase.
• Guests can relax with a glass of wine around the inviting fire pit in the garden and enjoy live music. (available most weekends)

Monterey County Wine Facts:
• Did you know? Monterey County is the one of the largest wine growing and producing regions in California which is one of the reasons why it was named as one of 2013's "Top Ten Wine Travel Destinations" in the world by Wine Enthusiast Magazine.
• In Carmel-by-the-Sea alone, you can spend a weekend wine-tasting without ever getting in a vehicle!
• Downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea has become a bona fide wine tasting destination, with enough tasting rooms to keep visitors busy for a weekend and even more about to open.
• Carmel Valley's tasting rooms (11 miles from Carmel-by-the-Sea) are not overly crowded and provide a warm, personal interaction with tasting hosts and winemakers.

Vendange is conveniently located a short drive away from the Monterey Peninsula Airport, just off of scenic Highway 1, with free parking for guests. We’re minutes away from downtown Carmel’s shopping and fine dining, scenic 17-Mile Drive, and the world-famous Monterey Bay Aquarium. Transitioning from Postini to Vault: A to Z

About a year ago, Google announced that it was sunsetting Postini and transitioning to Vault.

Sunnyvale, CA, August 13, 2014 - About a year ago, Google announced that it was sunsetting Postini and transitioning to Vault. Now, it appears that this pronouncement may finally be happening. If you are Postini client, now is the time that you should prepare for the transition.

The good news is that you do not have to purchase Vault for this transition. If you are a Google Apps user, then all of your archived email data on Postini will be migrated to a new Vault account that will be added to your current Google Apps structure. If you are not a Google Apps user, then you will get both Google Apps and Vault.

How the Transition Works

Transition procedures for Postini Classic customers and Postini Hybrid customers differ.

If you’re a Postini Classic customer:

* You use only Postini; you’re not using Google Apps.

* You use an on-premise (non-Gmail) mail server.

The transition for Postini Classic customers includes updated mail routing when you begin the transition. For more details, please go to: support.google.com/a/answer/3508933

If you’re a Postini Hybrid customer:

* You're a Google Apps customer who can route mail to on-premise mail servers.

* In addition to Google Apps, you also use Postini message security or message discovery (archiving).

* You log in to the Google Admin console and the Postini Admin Console with separate login credentials.

The transition for Postini Hybrid customers includes reviewing your Google Apps configuration and modifying it if needed, and routing your mail through Google after beginning the transition process. For more details, please go to: support.google.com/a/answer/2938980

Post Transition Issues
After the transition, your Postini archive data will be transitioned and there should be no duplicate data because the Postini to Google Vault transition tool recognizes duplicates. In the event that some messages are duplicated, however, you should be able to delete them from Vault by creating a custom retention rule which matches only that specific message.

If you decided not to do transitioning to Google Apps from Postini, then there is no transition tool available to migrate the data. If your Postini domain transitions to Google Apps then all of the Google Message Discovery(GMD) data will be transferred to the domain's Google Vault automatically. The only other option beyond this is to export the Postini GMD data from your Postini Admin Console and then use Google Apps Migration for Microsoft Exchange(GAMME) to transfer it to Google Vault.

What About Cost?
The good news, as mentioned above, is that no matter which Postini service you are using, you won’t have to make extra payment for the transition. That means your price will remain same as what you are currently paying for your Postini service; you can use Google Apps and Vault service while saving up to 87% of the cost. If you are currently using Postini GMD service, you will be transitioned to Google Apps Vault. If you are using Google Message Security(GMS) service for your email spam filtering, you will be transitioned to Google Apps for Business. In addition to that, price for Google Apps Vault will stay the same until 2016.

As a real estate coach, I am continually being asked by other real estate agents how to set up and use their technology. I help each agent, individually one-on-one, teaching them how to use their technology. Even though the agents loved the training, they were challenged in duplicating the things I taught one-on-one. Musical style: Jazz and Swing

Vocalist/percussionist Lee Durley and keyboardist Joe Indence are two of the most prominent and respected musicians in the Monterey musical community. Lee Durley, who has had multiple appearances at the world famous Monterey Jazz Festival, has been pleasing fans for decades with his rich vocal stylings and musicianship. His vocal texture has been compared to Lou Rawls, Nat King Cole, and Joe Williams. Durley has performed at clubs, festivals, and special events all over the West Coast, Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe, as well as several successful European tours including featured performances at the Marciac and Avignon Jazz Festivals in France. Lee is also a long-time member on the Board of Directors of the Monterey Bay Blues Festival.

Joe is a talented pianist, arranger, conductor and accompanist, performing and recording Classical, Popular and Jazz music. For many years, he has been Pianist in Residence at the beautiful Highlands Inn in Carmel.

Lee and Joe worked together for years at the Lodge at Pebble Beach, and currently play weekends together at the Highlands Inn in Carmel. In 2006, Lee & Joe released "Monterey Easy", a delightful CD that features some very tasteful easy listening favorites. Musically, they are drawn to the timeless songs that have lasted throughout the years.

From the classic swing of the 30's and on through the decades to the Adult Contemporary music of today, Lee Durley and Joe Indence play the music that you remember and love to dance to. From timeless love ballads to swing, Latin, waltzes, and light rock, Lee and Joe present a diversity of musical moods with style, taste and courteous professionalism. Lee and Joe accompany themselves with sequenced bass and drum tracking. This, combined with the many sounds Joe can coax from a synthesizer (such as strings and horns) gives this dynamic twosome the rounded, full-bodied sound you'd expect to hear from a full band! If desired, they can also add a saxophonist for a trio. This spirited duo will lend class and panache to any special event.

It is the getting to know people and then blending their personal needs and preferences with clinical care that continually excites me about my work.”

On July 24th, Cornwell attended the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards dinner with Dr. Kern and her care team. The office of Jeanette Kern, DDS was a 2014 Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards Finalist in the healthcare category.

Mezzanine Debt Explained

When looking for ways to fund the goings on of an ASC or urgent care center, an owner operator must adopt a businessman’s mindset. In other words, he or she must look at the center as a small or large business.

Dallas, Texas, August 11, 2014 - When looking for ways to fund the goings on of an ASC or urgent care center, an owner operator must adopt a businessman’s mindset. In other words, he or she must look at the center as a small or large business.

Whether an owner is looking to buy out a partner or expand the center in some way, extra capital can be a hard thing to come by, especially if the amount is substantial.

Seeking out a loan from a bank in the form of asset backed financing is own common option. However, in an article published by The Ambulatory M&A Advisor, a type of financing called “mezzanine” financing is explained.

According to Rodger Davis, Partner at Northcreek Mezzanine in Cincinnati, mezzanine debt financing is, “subordinated to a senior lender. It has a second priority lean on the assets of the business. Hence the word ‘mezzanine,’ because it sits between senior debt and equity.”

The article, which can be read in full here, goes into further detail about differences in equity and collateral between mezzanine and asset backed bank financing. Robert Stewart, General Partner at Spring Capital Partners, L.P., also offers insights and comments in the article.

The Ambulatory M&A Advisor is an online publication that covers the most up-to-date trends and topics surrounding ambulatory care center deal making, including information on investment banking in the ambulatory care realm.

Background on DOGMAN by Marty Goldstein:
Born and raised in San Diego, California, Marty at a very young age became infatuated with all manner of stuffed, furry creatures. Puppy dogs with long ears or short ears, a riot of expressions, and puppies with soulful eyes, soon became his most treasured possessions. As the early years went by, those funny stuffed animals were exchanged for a real live puppy dog who responded to his master with unmitigated love and who made him laugh time and again.

At the age of 62, Marty retired from the stressful corporate world.  And after taking numerous sculpting classes found himself eager to create a series of whimsical bronze dogs which he enjoys sharing with anyone who loves animals or who simply delights in beginning each day with a smile or a chuckle. These limited edition bronzes range in size from approximately 4 inches to 50 inches and are developed using the "lost wax process". The bronze dog sculptures are cast with high quality molten bronze and later have special patinas applied to bring the sculpture to life. This 3,000 year old tradition results in bronzes that owners will cherish for generations.

Marty Goldstein's dogs have found homes throughout the U.S., Canada, in Europe and in Asia.  Renown Hospital in Reno and Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara exhibit the bronzes as an aid to their Healing Arts Programs. The FDR library in New York displays a likeness of Fala, FDR's prized Terrier.

To date, Marty has sculpted a collection of well over 100 dogs. He says "Whimsical dogs remind me that life sometimes gets too serious and that we need a release. Funny looking dogs do that for me" Look for this collection to continue to expand in the future.

The Beginner’s Guide to Selling you ASC

Making the decision to sell your ASC can stem from a number of reasons. However, the preliminary steps to preparing your ASC or urgent care center can be the most pivotal to the sale.

Dallas, Texas, August 09, 2014 - In a recent article published by The Ambulatory M&A Advisor, the first thoughts an owner should have and the first steps he or she should take are explored and explained in reference to the selling process. Additionally, Blayne Rush, President of Ambulatory Alliances, LLC, and Curtis Bernstein, managing director of Sinaiko Healthcare Consulting.

One of the more significant points to keep in mind when preparing your outpatient center for sale involves the perception of potential buyers.

“When it comes to buyer perception, buyers are influenced by appearances,” Rush said. “The better prepared you are, the better organized you are and the better you understand and convey your unique message, the better your ASC will look in the eyes of the potential investors. The more authentic and knowledgeable you come across, the more believable your story will be and the more influence you will have on the buyers.”

Further helpful concepts, including aspects of an ASC’s financial reports and balance sheets are detailed in the article, which can be read in full here.

AuraPortal BPM Presents Real Simulation in its Business Process Modeling

Powerful technology allows any company to know during the design phase how its processes will act in execution, quickly detecting and solving any issues.

Woburn, MA, August 06, 2014 - AURA (www.auraportal.com), a global provider of AuraPortal.(*) Business Process Management (BPM) software, has enhanced the real simulation in its BPM suite's process modeling tool, making it immediately available to not only the designers of the processes, but also to managers and business analysts, who can easily perform simulations on running processes in a real working environment.

AuraPortal has been distinguished with great advantage over its competitors by Ovum in its Decision Matrix report and by other renowned analyst firms.

Business Process Management tools generally offer as an additional mechanism the possibility to perform 'simulations', i.e., to execute the processes virtually in imaginary scenarios in order to understand and quantify any circumstances that affect their execution. These simulations should reveal bottlenecks, overloads, unequal distribution of workloads, excessive times, etc.

There are two non-exclusive ways to conduct simulations:
- Statistical Simulation, this is the most common but also the less reliable.
- Real Simulation, much more reliable. The BPM tool allows instant modifications to be made to the design of the processes and these modifications can be executed immediately, with no need for programming, both in real and imaginary environments.

This characteristic, which is generally unavailable in other BPM tools, forms part of AuraPortal.

BPM suites typically require the intervention, in varying degrees, of programmers or technical experts to incorporate modifications in the design of the processes, which makes it impossible to carry out tests of each modification on the fly.

With Real Simulation, the results obtained are a true reflection of what will actually happen when the process is executed in a real production environment, and everything can be tested in advance, safely and with maximum accuracy. This Simulation gives 100% assurance that what has been modeled is exactly what will be executed.
