This 1-day course has been scheduled for the following date: Wednesday, June 8, 2011

HACCP Manager Certification
The Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) system is a process control that identifies where hazards might occur in the food production process and puts into place stringent actions to prevent the hazards from occurring. By strictly monitoring and controlling each step of the process, there is less chance for hazards to occur. HACCP is important because it is a preventative measure, rather than a solution for addressing contaminations after they are found. By controlling major food risks, such as microbiological, chemical and physical contaminants, the industry can better assure consumers that its products are as safe as good science and technology allows.

This hands-on course provides instruction in the seven principles HACCP, how they relate to prerequisite programs, how to write HACCP plans and implement HACCP in food processing, distribution and preparation environments. This HACCP Manager course is a “moderate level” training and is accredited by the International HACCP Alliance. As a mixture of lecture and hands-on learning, the course allows for interaction among class members and individualized feedback. During the course, participants will write an actual HACCP plan for a product or process of their choice. The course concludes with the HACCP Certification Examination administered late on the second day.

Course runs from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Registration fee of $695 includes all materials, books, NSF exam, certificates, lunch and refreshments. Discounted rate available for government employees, academics and sanitarians.

Librarians Promoting Audio Books in National Reading Programs

What do swashbuckling pirates, fast talking detectives and dangerous dames have in common? They are all larger than life characters that are being used by Librarians around the world to engage students in audio book reading programs from publisher Galaxy Press in Hollywood California.

Hollywood, CA, February 15, 2011 (Straight Line PR) -- For years, teachers have wrestled with methods to make students want to read more. The reality is that many students struggle with comprehension issues and find reading to be purposeless and boring. Librarians have discovered that students develop an immense appreciation of reading and literature through audio books, which bring great stories to life.

"Audio books bring a sense of adventure to reading. They can capture the imagination for a younger audience. It is a chance to go forth and explore," said Julia Ree, Public Librarian from Riverside, California.

When students listen to the audio book and also read the story, they develop a much greater comprehension and appreciation for the tale that the author is telling. While reading programs traditionally promote collaboration between students, parents and teachers, to help students learn new about new topics, it's found that a great story can inspire a young reader, and open the doors to lifelong learning. In many schools, teachers and librarians are using audio books on CD to inspire students to love books.

A short video examining the role of audio books in reading programs can seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrqkEOopnpw

Since the re-release of these short pulp novels in 2008, they have caught the attention of major bookstores and magazines. The audio books on CD are available at http://www.GoldenAgeStories.com/audiobooks

Several well-known celebrity performers took the stage recently at the Golden Age Theater in Hollywood, to perform an adaptation of the L. Ron Hubbard western story, "Reign of the Gila Monster". A short trailer of the performance can now been seen on YouTube.

Hollywood, CA, February 15, 2011 (Straight Line PR) -- Martin Kove (Karate Kid), Bruce Boxleitner (Tron), Lee de Broux (Robo Cop), Josh Robert Thompson (Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson), were a few of the celebrity performers on stage recently at the Golden Age Theater, located in Hollywood a block west of the Grauman's Chinese Theater on Hollywood Blvd. A short theatrical trailer of their performance of the L. Ron Hubbard western story, "Reign of the Gila Monster", can now been seen on YouTube.

The story is a comedic western penned by Hubbard in the heyday of pulp fiction, during which he was one of its most prominent authors. It's the tale of Howdy Johnson, and how he saves the town of Powderville from the larger-than-life self-appointed marshal simply known as "The Gila Monster". The trailer can be found on the Golden Age Stories YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAERTm7IT-g . The video also provides a good example of what guests experience every Saturday night at the Golden Age Theater.

The Saturday night shows recreate "the sensations of old-time radio, compellingly crafted tales by award-winning writer L. Ron Hubbard," said Schwartz.

The full story, the "Reign of the Gila Monster", can be found in the Stories from the Golden Age audiobook entitled "The Baron of Coyote River" (Galaxy Press, $9.95) a full cast audio production. Stories from the Golden Age contains 153 stories all written by Hubbard during the 1930s and 1940s - in genres ranging from Mystery to Thriller, Science Fiction and Fantasy to Adventure and Western, using his own and fifteen pen names - widely considered America's Golden Age of Fiction. The print version of each work includes the pulp fiction artwork that originally accompanied the story in magazine publication. In addition, each title offers a full-cast, unabridged audio theatrical presentation complete with theme music and sound effects. Representative Conklin Joins List of Speakers at BioEnergy Summit

Rep. H. Scott Conklin (77th Legislative District-Centre County) will deliver the opening remarks at the BioEnergy Summit set for March 15, 2011 at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology in PA.

Harrisburg, PA, February 13, 2011 -- Rep. H. Scott Conklin (77th Legislative District-Centre County) will deliver the opening remarks at the BioEnergy Summit set for March 15, 2011 at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology in PA.

In the state House, Rep. Conklin serves on the committees of Environmental Resources and Energy, where he is majority secretary; Agriculture and Rural Affairs; Appropriations; and Education. He is vice chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee, and is a member of the Lupus and Alzheimer's Awareness caucuses.

With its theme of Innovative Technologies for an Energized Future!, the Summit will explore innovative nanotechnologies for bioenergy production and technologies for producing energy from wastewater. Additionally, the commercialization of technologies and processes used to produce bioenergy from a variety of biomass resources also highlights this half-day program.

Sponsors of the event include OriginOil, the Lehigh Nanotechnology Network and Lehigh University.

The keynote speaker for the event is Dr. William Goldner of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). He will give an overview of the strategic thinking and programs USDA NIFA and other USDA agencies are using to address the sustainable production of biofuels, biopower, and biobased products. The programs include: regional systems-oriented programs that integrate research, education, and extension/outreach/ technology transfer; pre-commercialization R&D for small businesses; and grant and loan guarantee programs for demonstration and commercialization.

Dr. Goldner will provide some examples of how businesses may use these programs to take part in this important renewable energy sector. He will discuss the need to include emerging technologies such as nanotechnology and waste water management in developing bioenergy and the need for a thoughtful integrated approach to grow bioenergy, water quality and availability management systems, and perhaps other emerging energy resources (e.g. natural gas) in Pennsylvania and the surrounding region without disrupting existing agricultural systems, natural resources, and rural communities.

The closing speaker is Daniel J. Desmond, former Deputy Secretary for the Office of Energy and Technology Deployment at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and now a partner in Peregrine Technology Partners, a Pennsylvania firm started in late 2008 that works on development and commercial deployment of environmentally beneficial technology.

Desmond served the Commonwealth for nearly two decades and helped guide the growth of Pennsylvania's renewable energy industry. He joined the Pennsylvania Energy Office in 1983 and served as its executive director until its merger with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) in 1995. From April 1995 until his appointment as DEP deputy secretary for energy and technology deployment in 2003, he chaired the Pennsylvania Energy Resources Center, an advocacy and public education initiative to secure funding for renewable energy in the aftermath of utility deregulation. He also served as president of Sustainable Systems Research, a Lancaster-based firm specializing in the development and commercialization of environmentally beneficial technology. In his position as DEP deputy secretary, Desmond was responsible for fostering the deployment and use of innovative environmental and advanced energy technologies, including renewable energy. DEP's Office of Energy and Technology Deployment works with citizens groups, businesses, trade organizations, local governments, and communities to help them understand and adopt pollution prevention and energy efficient practices.

Roundtable discussions will examine the business opportunities that can be cultivated, why sustainable energy solutions are as good for business as they are for the environment, and the importance of obtaining financial support to the commercialization process. Scientists, government officials, entrepreneurs and investors will discuss promising research, successful ventures, overcoming commercialization challenges and market-driven opportunities.

The program is set to run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $35. More information is found online at http://www.HarrisburgU.edu/BioEnergySummit For additional information, email BioEnergy@HarrisburgU.edu or call Dr. Leena Pattarkine at 717.901.5168.

Can an Expert in Business Performance Make You into a Valentine's Day Hero? You Be the Judge

New York Times bestselling author and performance expert Tom Connellan says the real key to the ultimate in romance and relationships is doing the little things right, every single day - not just once a year.

Ann Arbor, MI, February 13, 2011 (Straight Line PR) -- "It's so sad," says New York Times bestselling author and world-renowned performance expert Tom Connellan. "Each year you can see untold millions of men scrambling at the last minute to do something romantic - a bouquet of obligatory roses, a box of heart shaped chocolates or reservations at one of the popular, but invariably, hectic local restaurants."

"It's like lemmings jumping off the cliff into the sea," he says.

His new book, The 1% Solution for Work and Life ( http://www.TomConnellan.com/tomconnellanbooks.html ), explains why the exact same skills and actions that create Olympic gold medal winners are what create exceptional relationships, the most memorable experiences, and the ecstasy that can only be found in love. The real key to the ultimate in romance and relationships is doing the little things right.

Achieving happiness in a personal relationship means learning to treat loved ones better every single day - not just once a year.

"The real key," he says,"is improving what you do as a caring partner each and every day."

Sure, delicious mouth-watering, aphrodisiac-laden presents are nice and are appreciated once in a while, but what really matters most is being the best partner possible on a daily basis.

Connellan says it's not hard for people to identify ways they can make small improvements in their relationships with the people they love. The hard part is simply remembering and staying devoted to doing the things that matter. Here are some ideas which illustrate what actions to take:

* Ask your partner. In order to really hit the mark, ask. Simply say, "What can I do today to help you?" - at least once a day.

* Pick one thing that your partner wants you to change and stick with that change for 30 days. It might be something as simple as asking her how her day went, appreciating things she does, acknowledging her for who she is, listening more, putting the toilet seat down, considering the possibility that maybe she also knows how to use the remote, or to stop picking your nose - at least when she's in the room.

* Take the first step right away. Whatever it is, start it immediately. There's no way, for example, to suddenly become organized, clean and tidy overnight. But try committing to cleaning up one tiny little area of the house every day. In 30 days the difference will be obvious, and in 90 days the whole house has been cleaned for the first time in years.

Realize that when you make a change - however small - you are making an improvement. It may feel incredibly awkward and uncomfortable. But at about the 21st day, that feeling goes away and that's when the new good habit gets locked in.

By adopting this approach every day, the difference can be very significant because when love dies, it's seldom about the elephant bites, it's almost always about the mosquito bites - the little everyday things.

The 1% Solution for Work and Life is chock full of simple, easy to understand tools and techniques that teach everyone how to make a difference in both work life and personal life.

The Energy Commercialization Institute (ECI) is the Southeast PA region’s first partnership accelerating alternative energy and clean technology development and commercialization, through translational research and sponsored research funding. ECI is focusing on high-impact energy generation, transportation and conservation. ECI pools intellectual property from participating institutions, providing dedicated technology transfer services with expertise to promote energy commercialization. It offers corporations a single point of negotiation for IP licensing, independent of the number of institutions with ownership of that IP. The ECI is funded with a two-year, $1.2 million grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, managed by BFTP/SEP.

The NTI is the Southeast PA region’s first partnership created to be a catalyst for nanotechnology development, commercialization and company formation. Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the University of Pennsylvania, and Drexel University created the NTI in 2000. The NTI has helped produce more than 357 Intellectual Property assets, created or assisted more than 22 young companies, and attracted more than $200 million in public and private investment to the region

Located in Mechanicsburg, Enginuity Energy is committed to providing sustainable and ennovative solutions promoting energy conservation and clean power generation through the use of renewable resources.

Additional Gold Sponsors of the event include OriginOil, the Lehigh Nanotechnology Network and Lehigh University.

Rep. H. Scott Conklin (77th Legislative District-Centre County) will deliver the opening remarks.

The Cross - I Love You - the TV Game Show Jeopardy - Effingham, Illinois

This Effingham, Illinois landmark made news by being featured on the television game show Jeopardy. Answer: What is the Cross at The Crossroads.

Effingham, IL, February 11, 2011 (Straight Line PR) -- What do the words "I Love You", the Christian Cross and the Central Illinois town of Effingham have in Common? They were all featured on the nationally syndicated television show Jeopardy on January 14, 2011.

Effingham, Illinois, the "Crossroads of Opportunity," traces its roots back to 1814, when the first pioneers settled along the Little Wabash River. Located at the intersection of I-57 (direct route from Chicago to New Orleans) and I-70 (direct route from Washington D.C. to Los Angeles), Effingham has become a hub for America's motoring public.

The category was "Things That Begin With C." For $400 the answer was "The World's Largest of These Religious Symbols Soars 198 Feet High Over Effingham Illinois And Weighs 180 Tons." The question, given correctly was "What Is The Cross." With that answer, The Cross At The Crossroads, its "I Love You" message and the town of Effingham, Illinois were forever memorialized in American Trivia on Jeopardy.

A video, featuring some of the world's largest crosses, can be seen online at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfE_K-X0Kbo&NR=1

The Cross at the Crossroads was originally the vision of the late John Herman Schultz, a successful businessman from Teutopolis, Illinois. An eternal optimist, Mr. Schultz was inspired to create the Cross At The Crossroads after seeing a similar monument in Groom, Texas in the 1990's. The Cross in Effingham took several years of planning and fund raising to materialize. The groundbreaking ceremony occurred on February 11, 2001 and was officially launched on September 16th, 2001.

"My father was inspired to create a monument that would induce a message of hope, love and wonder in people," said Jim Schultz, son of the founder and current Board member of The Cross Foundation, which manages the Cross at The Crossroads. "My dad nurtured a sense of wonder about life and love in everything that was important to him. He very much believed that when wonder looks upward, it contributes to a better understanding of all that we consider important and real."

A YouTube video of The Cross At The Crossroads can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjKxrnawl0k

The Cross At The Crossroads has greeted 50,000 visitors each day who pass through the Central Illinois community. "Over the last ten years we estimate that close to 200 million people have been welcomed by The Cross," said Jim Schultz. The Cross literally climbs out of the neighboring corn fields and reminds people that they are loved and that there is more to life than what is plainly visible.

"We are very inspired by the feedback that we get from all of the visitors who visit the Cross each day," said Schultz. "Our Ministry and Mission is to promote genuine values of love, hope, faith and understanding through all of our outreach programs. We were thrilled to be referenced on the Jeopardy TV show, as most of the Foundation's Board members are big fans of the program."

The Foundation's "I Love You" program has been adopted by numerous hospitals throughout the country. In this program, parents of newborn infants receive a wallet size card encouraging them to say "I Love You" to their children every morning and evening. The Foundation believes that Love is the answer, and the best place to implement this philosophy is with newborn infants.

Jeopardy! began transmission in 1964. The show has a legion of 38 million weekly fans across the United States and Canada, and was created by American talk show host, Merv Griffin.

About The Cross Foundation:
The Cross Foundation is dedicated to building both faith and family on an ecumenical basis. The Cross Foundation has completed a 198 foot Cross at the intersection of Interstates 57 & 70 in Effingham, Illinois. This site is intended to serve as a beacon of hope to the 50,000 travelers estimated to pass the site each day. In addition, the Cross Foundation will promote the values of faith and family through other activities at the Effingham site.

World’s First Golf Café Franchise is Coming to Vancouver

Links Golf Café, the world’s first eatertainment franchise that blends the fun, social and practical aspects of cutting edge indoor golf and internet technologies with the latest advances in fast casual dining, is coming to Vancouver.

Vancouver, BC, February 10, 2011 -- Links Golf Café, the world’s first eatertainment franchise that blends the fun, social and practical aspects of cutting edge indoor golf and internet technologies with the latest advances in fast casual dining, is coming to Vancouver. The café will feature four state-of-the-art PGA TOUR simulators that provide the most realistic golf simulator experience in the world. Golf enthusiasts will be able to play over 50 world-famous courses, including the exclusive TPC (Tournament Players Club) courses of the PGA TOUR® or simply practice every club in their bag on the driving range with visual, real-time and amazingly accurate performance feedback on each and every shot.

If there was ever any doubt that golfers are fanatical about their sport, witness an amazing trend that golfers in South Korea have started. In 2003, South Korea, a country with an estimated population of just under 49 million, had 300 virtual golf cafes up and running. Today, there are over 5,000 virtual golf cafes catering to over 200,000 golfers a day. This trend has not been lost on the folks from Links Golf Café in their quest to bring North America’s first virtual golf café to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

With LinksPlay?, the proprietary, internet-based system that connects each golf simulator in each Links Golf Café into an interactive player network, a performance database is automatically and continuously capturing data for the player after each and every shot, regardless of where they play in the network. The player can instantly see if they’re hitting the ball straighter, longer and more accurately by club and over time, providing the golfer unparalleled insight into performance trends for continuous improvement (patent pending). As more and more Links Golf Cafés are built around the world, LinksPlay? will make it possible to play a round of virtual golf with a buddy in a different city, and for virtual tournaments - picture "Pebble Beach Tuesdays" where every simulator in every Café could be set the exact same way and golfers from all over the world could compete for the prize!

Links Golf Café™ Vancouver is not only a unique golf entertainment venue for players and spectators alike, it is also a unique golf-themed dining experience with a world-class menu designed to be deliciously satisfying morning, day or night. With the latest innovations in fast-casual dining, their made-to-order menus are not only distinctly fresh, but conveniently fast. Vancouver golfers will look forward to sneaking in 9 holes on Pebble Beach before work with a hot Huevos Rancheros Breakfast Sandwich and a custom-roasted coffee. Players will be able to exercise their game on the driving range over lunch with a Thai Chicken Salad and a Bermuda Greens Smoothie. Host a private tournament between your buddies on TPC Sawgrass after work with a Chip and Dip Platter and bucket of local micro brews. Or just order some great food and drink, sit back and enjoy the interactive play, social vibe and free WiFi access in the café.

With 15 Links Golf Café franchises already awarded across Canada, the buzz about Links Golf Café is definitely catching on. "We’re very excited to have the first franchise and flagship location right here in Vancouver," says Darrell Ross, director of Links Golf Café BC.

Streaming Video Services Launches New Site

Scott Bowling Launches New Site - Streaming Video Services To Teach People How They Can Use Different Strategies To Build Any Business.

Austin, TX, February 08, 2011 -- Scott Bowling Launches New Site Streaming Video Services To Teach People Strategies They Can Use To Build Any Business. One of those businesses will be Talk Fusion. Scott was one of the first 100 people in Talk Fusion when they launched in 2007. He will be reaching out to people around the world. Places like New Zealand, Romania, Russia, France, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Spain, and South Africa to mention a few.

Scott says; the purpose and intention of this site is to teach people that a lot of the methods of marketing that people are using and still being taught don't work like they did 25 years ago or longer. Things have changed when it comes to building a business and a lot of people are struggling to do it the old way in the new market of 2011. You will learn what platform is best and the most recommended to build your site with, you will also learn how to quickly get your site indexed in the search engines.

According to research a home based business is started by someone every six seconds. That is great news but the rate that people quit those businesses is astronomical, not that they cannot do it but they are using methods of marketing that simply do not work for most people. Scott believes it is a misconception that people fail, it is not failing that is the problem, it is quitting. The reason is people become frustrated when they are doing everything they are told but still not experiencing the promised results.

Bowling says, it comes down to knowing how to market yourself and what methods to use to accomplish that. It is not about building the business of someone else but building YOU Inc.

If you are interested in learning more on how Scott Bowling of Streaming Video Products can help you build any business you can reach him on Skype at Scott_Bowling1, email: streamingvideoservices at gmail.com Also visit http://streaming-video-services.com/makemoney/qindex.html
