Gaming and Tech Entrepreneurs Sought for "Pitch Bootcamp" at Harrisburg University

Coming up with an idea for a cool new tech company is one thing. Getting investors to believe in your idea enough to give you money toward it is another thing entirely.

Harrisburg, PA, August 16, 2011 - Coming up with an idea for a cool new tech company is one thing. Getting investors to believe in your idea enough to give you money toward it is another thing entirely. Harrisburg University of Science and Technology and The Founder Institute will partner to host a "Pitch Bootcamp" to help potential entrepreneurs articulate startup business ideas from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, September 10, 2011.

The free educational and networking event will take place at Harrisburg University, which is located at 326 Market Street in Harrisburg, PA.

"This event is an ideal opportunity for those with an entrepreneurial spirit to get together with experienced founders to share their ideas and develop their pitch as well as to find potential cofounders," says Dr. Edgar Harrell, entrepreneur in residence at Harrisburg University and managing partner of Harrell Capital Partners, LLC. "In just four hours we'll help you refine your idea, improve your pitch, meet mentors and other entrepreneurs and find a co-founder."

This hands-on, intensive workshop will feature presentations on startup ideation, public pitch practice, and speed pitching to peers. A networking lunch and refreshments will be provided, too. During the Sept. 10 event, eight technology-venture founders will be invited to share their ideas and get feedback on their pitches to investors. Since one of the University's goals is to develop a regional gaming cluster, event organizers are making a special effort to invite people with ideas focused on virtual gaming.

Space is extremely limited so register today at http://www.harrisburgu.edu/news/event-registration.php or via email to CONNECT@HarrisburgU.edu

Economic Stimulus? S&P US Debt Downgrade? Video Brings Economic Issues to All

What is economic stimulus? If you talk to the average person on the street they won't be able to explain economics, unless it's in their own terms. And a new viral rap video by film maker John Papola and economist Russ Roberts does just that - explains economics in terms anyone can understand.

Fairfax, VA, August 15, 2011 (Straight Line PR) -- What is economic stimulus? If you ask enough economists that question you will quickly discover an abundance of very dry answers riddled with jargon that would put even ADHD victEconomic Stimulus? S&P US Debt Downgrade? QE1, QE2, QE3? HipHop Rap Tune Brings Fundamental Economic Issues To The Common Manims to sleep. Economics has always been presented in a very intellectual manner with elegant charts and mathematical formulations that are supposed to show how the world works.

In the scholarly world, economics is positioned as a social science that explains how production, distribution and consumption of goods and services work.

Yawn...

The reality is that if you talk to the common person on the street they will be unable to explain economic jargon to you unless you pose the most fundamental economic questions to them on their terms. This is exactly what film maker John Papola and economist Russ Roberts have done in an entertaining YouTube video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0nERTFo-SkFight of the Century: Keynes vs. Hayek Round Two helps to answer such common questions as: ) which has gone viral online. Now, a follow-on video, entitled

* Why is there poverty?
* Why does it always seem to get harder to make a living?
* Why are there boom / bust cycles?
* Does wealth flow from the top down or from the bottom up?

In their short film, (which can be seen at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTQnarzmTOc ) Papola and Roberts tell the story of the most important economic questions through a hiphop rap music video. The two main characters are the world's most prominent economic thinkers, John Maynard Keynes and Friederich von Hayek. Keynes' legacy was his thesis that central planning of the economy is the main purpose and function of government. Friederich von Hayek, on the other hand, spent his life claiming that the greatest economic good would come about by government leaving economics and decision making to free markets, individuals and entrepreneurs.

While most people think that government spending, interest rates, and government bailouts are pretty scholarly subjects, Papola and Robert's collaboration has posed these important issues in hip-hop layman's terms, making these important topics as contemporary as Snoop. (We're referring to Snoop Dogg, not Snoopy. Get with the program dude, or lose yo bling.)

The top economic issues today include debt, central planning, jobs, currency devaluation, and more. With the recent downgrade of US debt by Standard and Poor's to AA+ from AAA, this video is very timely and newsworthy.

The authors have appropriately called it the "Fight of the Century".

Believe it or not, IDEAS matter. When the ideas have a good beat and you can dance to them, it's possible to change the destiny of a civilization.

Here is a short excerpt from "Fight of the Century: Keynes vs. Hayek Round Two":

HAYEK:
"Oversight?
The government's long been in bed
With those Wall Street execs and the firms that they've bled.
Capitalism is about profit and loss.
You bail out the losers there is no end to the cost."

"Which way should we choose?
more bottom up or more top down?
the fight continues...
Keynes and Hayek's second round
it's time to weigh in...
more from the top or from the ground...
let's listen to the greats?
Keynes and Hayek throwing down."

The Brisbane Plumber Offers Tips on What to Do in Case of Damage!

If after all the preventive measures that you have done and you still find yourself facing a Brisbane plumbing emergency, the first thing to do is to find the right solution to your problem, advises Paul, head of Brisbane leading plumbing service, The Brisbane Plumber.

Brisbane, Queensland, August 15, 2011 - "But what if I have a little knowledge about fixing taps or pipes, should I try to repair the damage myself first before contacting a professional Brisbane plumbing tradesman?’ you asked. Well, according to the Brisbane Plumber, you definitely should.

"It’s like you getting a cut and the area is bleeding, do you let it continue to bleed while you go to the doctor? No you don’t! You are going to restrict the blood flow, and I suggest you do the same with a plumbing leak before you call a Brisbane plumbing company right away.

The following are some two other steps you can make when faced with a Brisbane plumbing trouble:
Determine the kind of damage you have. Brisbane plumbing companies usually offer different services and you have to know the kind of help that you need. Some examples of common Brisbane plumbing emergencies are clogged drains and toilets, blocked gutters, leaks, storm water issues, and so on. "Knowing the kind of service that you need makes it easy for you to find the right Brisbane plumbing company," says Paul.

Try to do something about the damage especially if water is continuously coming out of the pipe or faucet. You can turn off the main water switch or you can cover it with something to stop the water. Brisbane plumbing companies do not always have a plumber available immediately. According to Paul, in a situation like this "you might need to wait a few hours before the plumber can go to your house and fix the damage."

It is important to know some reputable Brisbane plumbing companies in your area even before you experience problems with your water system. But if you fail to do your research, you can just browse through the yellow pages of your phone directory or ask your friend or neighbor if he knows someone who can fix your plumbing trouble. Here again, the Brisbane Plumber is noting how important it is to hire a Brisbane plumbing company located near your home to save time.

Finally, the Brisbane Plumber says it is all about giving service to their clients. "When you contract us to do your work, whether it is to fix a leaking tap, installing a new water heater, repairing blocked drains, our aim is to deliver 100 per cent on any job, no matter how small.
