Rising Rock ‘n’ Roll Band Dynamos Unleash their Lead Single: “Shake, Rattle and Roll,” Available 10/13/17!

New Performance Music Video Out 10/12/17!

Los Angeles, CA, Sep 30, 2017 - Southern California based rockers Dynamos are set to release their debut single “Shake, Rattle and Roll” on October 13, 2017 to all online retail outlets worldwide. The break-out song will also be accompanied by a live performance music video.

“Shake, Rattle and Roll” marks an igniting introduction for Dynamos and asserts that the emerging band is a mighty force to be reckoned with. The song opens with crunching guitars and a spellbinding bassline that leads right into powerhouse vocalist Nadia E.’s growling first verse. With her sultry charm, Nadia unfolds a vivid story of a lover expressing her rich infatuation with her partner. The lust is so intoxicating it impels her to literally ‘Shake, Rattle and Roll.’ The song travels into searing guitar solos and trembling drum licks that elevate the single’s infectious pulse.

The accompanying music video was filmed during a live performance of the Dynamos in Los Angeles, CA. The video exhibits the band’s raw delivery and tremendous chemistry. Dynamos’ innate sense of enthusiasm and musicianship shines through this live performance and invites listeners to attend one of their live shows.

Introducing a contemporary blend of traditional and modern rock music, Dynamos burst into the scene earlier this year with their debut EP, Cold Comfort. With their vibrant, striking instrumentals and passionate call and response, this American rock band intends to share their knowledge and love of music to the masses. Dynamos is led by front woman and lead vocalist, Nadia E. She is accompanied by Nick Schaadt (music director, bass), Jacob Mayeda (lead guitar), Ian Nakazawa (drums), and Carlos Barrera (lead guitar). Nadia E. is known to rock the house with her soul-shaking voice and visual storytelling. Together, Dynamos combine technical expertise with pure raw energy to deliver a unique and captivating listening experience.

The ‘Sweet Season’ in Coming Up, But with Good Habits and Careful Monitoring, Teeth Problems can be Avoided, According to Gilroy Dentist

Candy is harder to avoid on Halloween than pumpkin spice and spooky ghosts and witches, but according to Gilroy dentist Dr. Jernell Escobar, teeth problems can be avoided with some good habits and monitoring the amount of candy children eat.

Gilroy, CA, Sept 28, 2017 — Candy is harder to avoid on Halloween than pumpkin spice and spooky ghosts and witches, but according to Gilroy dentist Dr. Jernell Escobar, teeth problems can be avoided with some good habits and monitoring the amount of candy children eat.

“It really can be quite a challenge for parents to let children enjoy Halloween, but still maintain the health of their teeth,” says Dr. Escobar. “But the solution isn't to ban all candy, which is an impossible, but to closely monitor their intake of candies and other sweets.”

Halloween is the start of the “sweet season,” which includes Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve, the time of the year that is taken up with holiday parties, family celebrations, school activities and community events. Parents have to be extra attentive during this time of the year because many of these events feature cookies, cakes, pies, brownies, and other sweet treats.

Dr. Escobar wants people to be aware that there are good sweets and bad sweets, much as there are good habits and bad habits when it comes to the health of their teeth.

Sweets such as taffy and hard candies that can sit on or stuck between teeth for long periods of time actually increases the risk of tooth decay. Bacteria feeds on the sugar on the teeth, producing acid that causes tooth decay.

“Candies” such as sugar-free gum can prevent cavities by dislodging food particles and increasing saliva, which helps to neutralize acids in the mouth and prevent tooth decay.

“We can't avoid all sweets, of course, but by being smart with our choices, going for healthy alternatives and promoting a healthy oral routine with our kids, we can all keep our families happy and healthy during the holiday season,” says Dr. Escobar.

The American Dental Association, on its website mouthhealthy.org, offers 10 easy-to-follow tips to help your children maintain a healthy mouth and teeth:

1. Eat Halloween candy and other sugary foods with meals or shortly after mealtime. Saliva production increases during meals and helps cancel out acids produced by bacteria in your mouth and helps rinse away food particles.

2. Avoid hard candy and other sweets that stay in your mouth for a long time. Besides how often you snack, the length of time sugary food is in your mouth plays a role in tooth decay. Unless it is a sugar-free product, candies that stay in the mouth for a long period of time subject teeth to an increased risk for tooth decay.

3. Avoid sticky candies that cling to your teeth. The stickier candies, like taffy and gummy bears, take longer to get washed away by saliva, increasing the risk for tooth decay.

4. Drink more water. Drinking optimally fluoridated water can help prevent tooth decay. If you choose bottled water, look for kinds that are fluoridated.

5. Maintain a healthy diet. Your body is like a complex machine. The foods you choose as fuel and how often you "fill up" affect your general health and that of your teeth and gums.

6. Avoid beverages with added sugar such as soda, sports drinks or flavored waters. When teeth come in frequent contact with beverages that contain sugar, the risk of tooth decay is increased.

7. Chew sugarless gum. Chewing sugarless gum for 20 minutes after meals helps reduce tooth decay, because increased saliva flow helps wash out food and neutralize the acid produced by dental plaque bacteria.

8. Brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste. Replace your toothbrush every three or four months, or sooner if the bristles are frayed. A worn toothbrush won't do a good job of cleaning your teeth.

9. Clean between teeth daily with floss. Decay-causing bacteria get between teeth where toothbrush bristles can't reach. Flossing helps remove plaque and food particles from between the teeth and under the gum line.

10. Visit your dentist. Regular visits to your dentist can help prevent problems from occurring and catch those that do occur early, when they are easy to "treat."

Singer-Songwriter and Pianist, Shauna Burns, Announces New Release: “Scarborough Fair,” Coming 10/6/17!

Shauna Burns, the seasoned Celtic inspired artist, is known for enchanting listeners with her soothing vocals, sweeping piano solos, and spiritually healing music.

Salt Lake City, UT, Sep 29, 2017 - Shauna Burns, the seasoned Celtic inspired artist, is known for enchanting listeners with her soothing vocals, sweeping piano solos, and spiritually healing music. The singer-songwriter and pianist is set to release her cover single of an old-time classic, “Scarborough Fair,” on October 6, 2017 through the label Red Rock Music.

Shauna Burns rejuvenates “Scarborough Fair” with her own Celtic spin to this English traditional ballad. Singing the female’s reply to the male’s request to prove true love, Shauna brings her own perspective to this classic tale. Her intricate yet, delicate piano melodies whisk through the entire piece. Shauna’s crystalline and haunting vocal performance is laced between engaging threads and a Celtic harp that broaden the dreamy effect of the song.

“I had been spending a lot of time in green lush places lately and I started to imagine the woman in this song walking through the landscape, says Shauna Burns. I heard her voice so clearly and I went to the piano and started to tinker out the first bit of the song.”

“Scarborough Fair” highlights the tale of a young man who instructs the listener to tell his past lover to complete a series of impossible tasks, in order for him to take her back. Typically the song is performed as a duet, with the women ordering the man to perform equally impossible tasks, as well. In the brand new version, Shauna sings “ask him to find me an acre of land, between the salt water and the sea-sand.”

Shauna continues, “I imagine this couple is probably having a bump in their relationship and are trying to get each other to do the impossible task to win back their love... but I sensed at the end both of them want to forgive, want to move forward, but perhaps their pride is in the way? I felt when I was recording “Scarborough Fair” that ‘her’ soft vocals maybe gave the game away... maybe just a touch. I personally think true love prevails at the end.”

The piano, keyboard, vocals and musical arrangements were done by Shauna Burns. Caroline Kemper ReidReynoso performed on the Celtic harp, and Dee Kei Waddell on the double bass and keyboard. The song was produced by Shauna Burns and James Clark, and was engineered/mastered/co-produced by Dee Kei Waddell.

About Shauna Burns:
Burns had developed her captivating vocal and playing style while growing up in Miami, Florida where she was inspired by her mother’s love for the piano and groundbreaking pop/rock artists like Sarah McLachlan and Tori Amos. After releasing four studio albums and countless singles, Burns has hit FMQB AC Charts, was one of WCH Radio’s “Top Songs of the Year” and hit #1 on “Song Vault Radio.” The Moon and the Fire Circle album was selected as “Best of 2008” by Collected Sounds and The Promise Live. Shauna Burns continues to capture audiences across the globe with her heartwarming music. Her profound lyrics and piano driven sound has built her reputation in the Celtic music world and has also allowed her to tour extensively through the U.S. and U.K. For more information please visit: http://shaunaburns.com/music/

Ashley J Announces her New Empowering and Energetic Pop Single, “Unbreakable,” Releasing 10/6/17!

On October 6, 2017 Ashley J will return with her new follow-up pop single “Unbreakable,” the second single from Ashley’s forthcoming EP, slated for an early 2018 release.

Orlando, FL, September 25, 2017 - On October 6, 2017 Ashley J will return with her new follow-up pop single “Unbreakable,” the second single from Ashley’s forthcoming EP, slated for an early 2018 release. “Trapped,” her first single and video received tremendous media praise and hit #6 on the European Independent Music Charts. “Unbreakable” will be released via her own imprint Bombshell Music, Inc.

The Orlando based songwriter/singer showcases her independent and liberating lyrical style in her new song, “Unbreakable.” She collaborated with UK’s established producers, Jamie Sellers and Warwick Matthews to produce this buoyant new track. Ashley’s airy and enticing vocals weave through dreamy piano melodies and bouncy synths. This light-hearted single takes listeners on an uplifting journey and showcases Ashley’s authentic pop style.

"I wrote and recorded ‘Unbreakable’ in London. It was one of my favorite writing sessions because their energy was so natural. The song literally wrote itself and came alive in the studio. I was just ending a relationship and this song was my final phase of getting through it. I found an undeniable power within, and channeled it with this song that closed the chapter and opened a new one at the same time. This will forever be one of my favorites,” says Ashley J.

“Unbreakable,” focuses on overcoming heartbreak and moving on for the better. She chronicles past experiences, noting that she has been through a lot. However she now knows better and is going to make her heart “unbreakable.” This empowering song is intended to encourage and enable women to be free and embrace their independence.

This writing technique is definitely no stranger to Ashley J; she revealed it in the past with her hit single, “Dare Ya” which earned her a Top 10 Billboard chart spot in 2016. The following year, Ashley J unraveled a different side to her storytelling with her single “Trapped.” The song described a dark infatuation with a partner whom she couldn’t break free from, which was released earlier this year. “Trapped” continues to climb the European Independent Music Charts, reaching a sweet spot of #2.

About Ashley J:
Growing up in Orlando, the multi-talented songwriter/singer was influenced by Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson and her all time musical hero, Dolly Parton, Ashley J started songwriting and singing at a very early age. Her musical style intertwines unapologetic pop with enticing electronic melodies. She earned a BA degree in Business Law from the University of North Texas and attended the Dr. Phillips High School of Performing Arts in Orlando, where she scored leading roles in theatre, dance and musical productions.

Artemis Restaurant in Carmel Features the Best Dishes of the Mediterranean, from Italy and Spain to Turkey and More

The Mediterranean is at the intersection of Asia and Europe, with the world's earliest civilizations forming centuries ago on the borders of the Mediterranean Sea.

Carmel, CA, September 25, 2017 — The Mediterranean is at the intersection of Asia and Europe, with the world's earliest civilizations forming centuries ago on the borders of the Mediterranean Sea. Traders sailing the sea and traveling overland exchanged a bounty of commodities, including spices, herbs, vegetables, meats and other foods, resulting in the wide dispersal of certain ingredients that became the basis for many ethnic cuisines in the vast region.

But while they share many common ingredients, Mediterranean cuisine isn't the product of one ethnic group or culture, but a product of many influences, exchanges and culinary trends shared by a wide variety of peoples and cultures around the Mediterranean Sea.

Artemis restaurant in Carmel is the epitome of the global nature of Mediterranean cuisine, drawing inspiration from a rich and diverse tradition that spans the entire region, from Southern Europe to the Eastern Mediterranean.

While savory Turkish dishes still form the centerpiece of this burgeoning new culinary gem in the heart of Carmel, dishes from other Mediterranean countries such as Greece, Italy, France, Spain and Morocco and others also star in Artemis' revised new menu.

“As a result of customer feedback, we've made revisions on the menu since we first opened,” says Artemis manager Sara Allen. “We wanted to be more open for more people to enjoy our food.”

So they added a few new favorite dishes and simplified the language on the menu, which customers found hard to remember and often difficult to pronounce — dishes such as piyaz (a traditional Turkish salad made with beans, onion, parsley and sumac) and kizartma (an eggplant dish with tomatoes, onion and garlic), to name but a few. But what didn't change was the basic nature of the food.

“The focus here is on real Mediterranean food, made and served as it is over there,” says owner Erkan Demir, who started in Carmel with businesses selling boots, leather jackets and carpets. “It's all homemade food, from scratch, all seasonal, organic when we can, fresh and very healthy. The bottom line is that it's 100% honest food.”

Demir, like his Executive Chef Mustafa Yuzer, is a native of Istanbul, Turkey.

When it first opened in March 2017, the 40-seat Artemis (then called Artemis Turkish Kitchen) got rave reviews from local food writers and reviewers.

“Artemis Turkish Kitchen is bound to be one of those Carmel establishments that stays put. It’s classy, the food is delicious and the owner – Erkan Demir – knows his way around the town’s bustling businesses as much as he does his native fare,” wrote Taryn Yudaken of the Monterey Weekly.

The restaurant was a hit coming out of the gates, but Demir and his staff felt that the emphasis on Turkish cuisine and the confusing and hard-to-pronounce names of the dishes may have intimidated or discouraged some potential customers.

So items such as “meze tabagi,” a medley of eight cold appetizers, became the Artemis Sampler and “cevizli ezme,” a signature concoction of walnuts, tomato, cumin, garlic and Turkish red pepper paste, is now the Walnut Ezme. Simple and direct.

The dinner entrees still retain favorites such as shish kabob, moussaka, stuffed eggplant, miniature beef patties called kofte and lamb chops or kuzu pirzola, but also other Mediterranean favorites such as spaghetti, seafood pasta, fettuccine with lamb ragu, sea bass and grilled salmon.

Plus, Artemis has a small selection of Turkish wines and a number of healthy vegetarian options, including salads, lentil soup (“Best in Town!” the menu exclaims) appetizers, cauliflower gratin, vegetable medley, falafel plate with rice and salad, vegan eggplant, and veggie wraps. Artemis buys and uses organic produce when possible.

Artemis is also open for lunch with several items from the dinner menu available, so hesitant diners can get a sneak preview of dinner to see if they want to venture into deeper waters, as it were. Demir's recommendation is simple: “Try us, you'll like us.”

“People who come in and eat here, they love it,” he says. “They can't believe there's a restaurant like this in Carmel. Once they come in, they love it.”

And getting better every day.

Or as reviewer Yudaken wrote: “Things are still getting better here all the time, but everything flows so well that most could never tell there was much room to get better.”

Artemis is located at Ocean Avenue and Mission Street, in Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Hours are 11:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m. for lunch and 5:30–10 p.m. for dinner. For more information, call (831) 574-8991 or go to www.artemiscarmel.com.

Souleye, New Age Hip Hop Rapper, Announces the Eagerly Awaited Album: WILDMAN Releasing September 22, 2017!

On September 22, 2017, veteran hip-hop rapper Souleye will release his long awaited full-length record, Wildman.

Los Angeles, CA, September 20, 2017 – On September 22, 2017, veteran hip-hop rapper Souleye will release his long awaited full-length record, Wildman. The Los Angeles based artist teamed up with house duo Crush Effect, comprising of Jess Molloy and Dave Veith, to produce an exceptionally eye-opening hip-hop and electronic fused album.

Wildman represents a mindful and musically engaging listening experience. A socially conscious artist, Souleye delivers an innovative and intense lyric flow that drips with passion. His clever references outline a positive sense of being. In “Follow Your Heart,” the debut single from Wildman, Souleye discusses overcoming hesitations with self-awareness and self-motivation in order to follow your own passions. His rhythmic lines weave in and out of the down-tempo grooves and musical stylings of Crush Effect. Molloy and Veith blend elements of electronic, R & B, hip hop, and trip-hop to create a psychedelic and atmospheric album that occupies the space between a traditional compilation record and a concept album.

“One of the reasons so many pop and hip hop albums don’t sound cohesive is that those 12 tracks were recorded in 12 different studios with 12 different producers,” says Veith, of Crush Effect. “It was nice to do a full record, to build that sound from song to song.”

In addition to Crush Effect, the album features guest appearances by an array of upcoming and renowned artists, incorporating fresh, melodic hooks into each song. The album includes focus tracks such as, “Snow Angel” (Ft. Alanis Morissette), “Hip Hop Medicine” (Ft. Dustin Tavella), “Classic” (Ft. Chantal Kreviazuk, Chachillie), “Fountain of Youth” (Ft. Wade Morissette) and the latest single and title-track, “Wildman” (Ft. Lynx).

Souleye is a one-of-a-kind artist making a statement in the hip hop and electronic scene. He continues to shape his signature style with inspiring and poetic rhymes. His carefully selected collaborators offer creative instrumentation that only enhances Souleye’s enlightened lyrics.

About Souleye
Souleye’s musical journey began when he was a teenager in rural Massachusetts, freestyling around a camp fire to entertain his friends. Blending traditional elements of hip hop, EDM and numerous other styles; Souleye’s music crosses the boundaries of genre, defies convention and inspires listeners with uplifting lyrics coupled with both traditional and unusual hip hop beats and samples. His first album, Soul Sessions was released in 2002. Since then, Souleye has released eight studio albums and numerous singles. If you're looking for the perfect gift this holiday season you can't get much sweeter than a gift that is produced locally, helps the environment, and contributes to research and education for the betterment of the world.

Carmel, CA, September 19, 2017 — If you're looking for the perfect gift this holiday season you can't get much sweeter than a gift that is produced locally, helps the environment, and contributes to research and education for the betterment of the world.

Holiday gift boxes featuring honey and custom Carmel Honey Company logo items are now available from the company, which was founded by 14-year-old Carmel student Jake Reisdorf, who was 11 at the time. The gift boxes are available online or at the company's store in Carmel.

The three gift packages available so far include:

* $100 box. This box features a custom Carmel Honey Company logo apron, custom mug with attached spoon, custom honeybee/honeycomb design socks, a 12-oz. jar of Wildflower Honey, an Orange Blossom Honey Stix pack, and a honey dipper, all in a white box with bow.

* $50 box. Features Earl Grey Supreme Tea in a silver tin, 8-oz. jar of Sage Honey, custom mug with attached spoon, and honey dipper in black box with bow.

* $30 box. Features a four-pack of Carmel Honey Company honey, Sage Honey, Wildflower Honey, Orange Blossom Honey and Meadowfoam Honey, gift wrapped in black box with bow.

The four types of honey currently produced comes from Jake's 120 beehives, and is all-natural, pure, raw, premium honey that comes straight from the hives.

And Reisdorf, as part of his “Jake Gives Back” program, donates some of his proceeds from the sale of his honey to organizations that are expanding research and education efforts by addressing the production, nutritional value, health benefits, economics, and/or quality standards of honey bees and honey.

“I'm just an average 13-year-old who likes honeybees,” Reisdorf told California Bountiful magazine. “With beekeeping, you are helping the environment and it is really fun and interesting. I'm all about the education and practicing beekeeping and doing honey. The message that I want everyone to know is: If the bees go, we go, so help save the bees.”

So when you purchase these gift boxes from the Carmel Honey Company, (or place a honey bee pollination hive in your backyard), you have contributed to the research and education of the public on the importance of pollination and the benefits of the honey bee.

About Jake and Carmel Honey Company:
Jake Reisdorf is the chief beekeeper and owner, with his family, of Carmel Honey Company. Jake started the business as part of a school project when his teacher assigned professions to each student and directed them to research the profession and build a presentation on it.

While researching his assigned profession of website designer, Jake, 11 years old at the time, decided to take it one step further and actually create a real website. At that time, Jake had taken one beekeeping class with his Dad and thought it would be cool to design a website about honey bees.

Not only did Jake get an “A” on the project, it inspired him and spurred him to start Carmel Honey Company. That was three years ago.

His passion for honey bees grew as he learned about Colony Collapse Disorder and real honey. Expanding his research and education drove Jake to learn more about honey and bees and ultimately decide it was critical to give back.

The “Jake Gives Back” program includes sharing honey bee knowledge with kids and adults of all ages. Whether he is in a classroom speaking to first-grade students, or at a corporate event talking with business owners and seasoned professionals, his passion and appreciation of how honey bees impact our world is infectious. He also “gives back” by making a financial donation to honey bee research and education organizations.

Jake currently attends ninth grade at Carmel High School and keeps his knowledge of apiology (the scientific study of bees) current by continuing to manage his own honey bee hives and attending industry conferences throughout the country.

Vendange Carmel Inn and Suites Announces New Wine-Themed Room in Partnership With Award-Winning Soledad-Based Carmel Road Winery

Vendange Carmel Inn and Suites has announced a new wine-themed room designed and decorated by Soledad-based Carmel Road Winery.

Carmel, CA, September 6, 2017 — Vendange Carmel Inn and Suites has announced a new wine-themed room designed and decorated by Soledad-based Carmel Road Winery.

Carmel Road wines are inspired by the wind and the waves that define Monterey, which in turn inspired the vision for the Carmel Road wine room at the Vendange Inn.

“We were honored to be selected to bring one of their suites to life with the Carmel Road look and feel,” says Chrissy Gray, Carmel Road tasting room manager. “We chose cool blue and seafoam green tones to give guests that tranquil feeling of being at the beach. Think upscale picnic with your toes in the sand — with a wine glass in hand, of course!”

Gray says they wanted to bring to life the coastal, peaceful vibe found in Carmel, as well as in their tasting room, so they created several large photo canvases showcasing the nearby ocean, with a wine-themed twist. There’s also a beautiful nook under a wine rack where guests can sit and simply relax with a glass of Carmel Road Pinot Noir or Chardonnay.

To really give guests a sense of what Carmel Road Winery has to offer, in the room they will find a selection of Carmel Road wines for purchase, information about their wine club as well as the winery, beautiful etched glasses, stone coasters, plush throw blankets, and complimentary tasting cards for up to four people.

“Carmel Road is a sense of place, and we hope the guests in this room come to discover that special feeling for themselves,” says Gray.
Carmel Road joins 14 other wineries in partnership with Vendange to sponsor wine-themed rooms. From the McIntyre Vineyards’ room with its impressive 100-year-old grapevine section to J. Lohr’s wine barrel on the balcony, every winery’s room offers a signature luxury experience. The participating wineries include: Blair, Cima Collina, Dawn’s Dream, Galante, Holman Ranch, J. Lohr, Joullian, Manzoni, McIntyre, Otter Cove, Tudor, Twisted Roots, Mesa Del Sol and Ventana.

About Carmel Road Winery
Inland from Monterey’s rugged coastline, yet still directly in the path of the ocean’s relentless influence, Carmel Road Winery creates vibrant Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Pinot Grigio that capture the essence of this remarkable region. The winery tailors its viticulture and winemaking techniques to capture the compelling character of this windswept area. Since its founding in 1997, the family-owned and operated winery has worked continually to improve farming and winemaking practices, creating complex wines while also preserving the ecosystem for future generations. Carmel Road is certified by SIP (Sustainability in Practice) and CCSW (Certified California Sustainable Winegrowing) and recognized as a leader in water conservation, energy efficiency and land restoration. Book About ‘Silly Smiling Snake’ Not Only Entertains Children, But Saved Life of Veteran, Now Also Benefits Veterans Group

Snidely may be a silly snake who tells side-slapping stories for children in his new book, but he's also a life-saver.

Monterey, CA, September 01, 2017 — Snidely may be a silly snake who tells side-slapping stories for children in his new book, but he's also a life-saver.

Not only that, but Snidely will also help fellow veterans of his co-creator, a disabled U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War era, with $1 of the proceeds from each book sold going to the PTSD Foundation of America.

The foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring our combat veterans and their families with post-traumatic stress, feeling it is our duty as Americans to help these mighty warriors and their families adjust and find their new normal.

Silly Smiling Snidely” was co-written by Reuben Maestas and his wife of 34 years Lucy and illustrated by Reuben, a veteran who suffers from extreme PTSD, which riddles his body with pain from his injuries.

Fortunately, Reuben found an outlet for his disability by writing. When the PTSD gets too much for Reuben to handle and he feels like he wants to give up, he writes down the crazy characters in his head. He says he tries to lose himself in the character and thinks about how it will help children of all ages to be happy even if it’s just while they are reading about his silly snake.

Snidely and the book has proven to be a life saver in Reuben’s case and has helped his PTSD more than any medication has helped. He has been sketching and writing about Snidely since 1989. He would start on it for a few days and then get discouraged and put it away, a few months would go by and he would pick it up again for a few days. This went on for years until finally Reuben and Lucy both decided it was too cute to keep it to themselves. They finished the book in 2015 and published it in 2016.

There's also a little twist to “Silly Smiling Snidely,” which recounts Snidely's travels and adventures as he “slips, slides, and slithers sideways slowly south.” He speaks only using words that begin with the letter “s.”

Or as Reuben and Lucy would say: “Snidely sure says some side-slapping stories. Silly, silly snake.”

And since Snidely is such an entertaining lifesaver for someone with PTSD, $1 from every book sold will go to the PTSD Foundation of America, a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring to the country's combat veterans and their families suffering from post-traumatic stress.

“It was so much fun working on this book and we are very proud of the outcome,” says Lucy. “So many people and especially teachers say what a wonderful, educational book for all ages to enjoy; it’s so much fun to read!”

Reuben and Lucy are already working on not one, but two sequels to Snidely's stories.

“It’s exciting to be part of something that will make people smile,” says Lucy. “That’s what I am most proud of, when you can be part of something that makes people laugh, smile and be happy in this terrible world then that’s an accomplishment in my heart.”

The book is available on Amazon and at Barnes and Noble, as well as a handful of brick-and-mortar bookstores:

About the PTSD Foundation of America
PTSD Foundation of America is a non-profit organization dedicated to mentoring to our combat veterans and their families with post-traumatic stress. Many warriors are coming home with visible wounds; countless others are coming home with scars we cannot see, wounded souls from witnessing the horrors of war over and over again — PTSD. We feel it is our duty as Americans to help these mighty warriors and their families adjust and find their new normal.

PTSD Foundation’s Mission
1. Bring healing to our military community (Active duty, Reserves and National Guard, veterans, and their families) through pastoral counseling, and peer mentoring, both on an individual basis, and in group settings.
2. Raise awareness of the increasing needs of the military community through public events, media outlets, social media, service organizations, and churches.
3. Networking government agencies, service organizations, churches and private sector businesses into a united “Corps of Compassion”, to bring their combined resources together to meet the needs of the military community on a personal and individual/family level.
