Cure Type 2 Diabetes Website Launches to Help Type 2 Diabetes Patients

It is estimated that 347 million people in the world have diabetes. However, a Bristol UK man, diagnosed as diabetic in 2001, now claims he is off all diabetes medications, and has launched a website to help others with Type 2 Diabetes.

Pain Management In-Office Procedures Decline with Reimbursement Rates

The proper business management of an Pain Management Center will be the key to success going forward, according to industry professionals.

Dallas, Texas, April 26, 2014 - In an article published by The Ambulatory M&A Advisor, Dr. Rudi Gari of Texas Pain Relief Group weighs in on the matter, noting that physician-owners of Pain Management Centers need to keep the business side of their practice in mind, even if it doesn’t come second nature.


“Physicians are typically not the best business people,” Gari said. “You may be the best doctor the world has ever known, but if you don’t know how to manage your finances and manage your office, you’re not going to have an office to practice in.”

This emphasis on business is a result of declining reimbursement rates, according to Dr. Al Liceaga, Medical Director of Orangewood Surgical Center and Regional Pain Treatment Medical Center.

“ASCs reimbursement for procedures are often paid on only one CPT code and global fees now limit payment and reduce access to care by not allowing reimbursement for certain procedures within the global time period,” he said. “Reimbursement for hardware and implants has dramatically changed also. The majority of implants are now inclusive of the global fee.”

These changes in reimbursement rates had a noticeable impact on in-office procedures, with higher costs causing a reduction in such procedures.

Ecotech Institute’s Free Online Course, “Introduction to Sustainability”, Changes the Way Students Approach Sustainability

Student Feedback Demonstrates Appreciation and Value for the Course

Denver, Colorado, April 23, 2014 – Student feedback from Ecotech Institute’s free online “Introduction to Sustainability” course proved the opportunity was valued by students across the globe and changed the way they approached sustainability initiatives.

Kyle Crider, Ecotech Institute’s Program Chair and Manager of Environmental Operations, led the free online course for a second time earlier this year. There was a diverse mix of students, both men and women from all educational backgrounds and walks of life. Many students applied what they learned in the course to their communities and have said they’ll continue to expand on their education now that the course is complete. The course material applies to general green energy jobs, including solar jobs, wind turbine jobs, and overall careers in renewable energy.


“The first Intro to Sustainability course last year was such a wild success, we felt like we had no choice but to bring it back,” Crider said. “I’m so happy that we did. The feedback we received proves that the course truly changes students’ lives. By allowing people to learn free of charge, we can help more people learn what sustainable living is all about.”

The Introduction to Sustainability course is a “massive online open course” (MOOC), offered through the Canvas Network. MOOCs are a popular way for educational institutions to offer free courses to the public. Based in Aurora, Colorado, Ecotech Institute is the only college entirely focused on sustainability-related job training.

The MOOC course explores various definitions of sustainability used by governments, businesses, and individuals to address environmental, societal, and economic problems around the world. In addition, students learn ways to apply sustainable concepts to their own lives. As part of the course, students have to complete a capstone project that involves writing their own sustainability-focused mission statement, vision, and goals.

Dallas, Texas, April 13, 2014 - While concrete predictions are still difficult to make, the ACA has and will continue to impact the ASC market. In an article published by The Ambulatory M&A Advisor, Carol Lucas of Buchalter Nemer, Dr. Greg Horner of Tri-Valley Orthopedic Specialists Inc., and Matt Burnstein, attorney at Waller Landsen Dortch & Davis, comment on the subject.


An increase in patient volume as a result of the ACA, as well as declining reimbursement rates, has resulted in a trend in 2013 of health systems acquiring a majority interest in physician-owned centers.

“Health systems are partnering with specialty surgery center operators and are acquiring surgery centers while leaving physicians with a 49% interest to keep them invested in the center’s success,” Lucas said.

According to attorney Burnstein, this allows the health system to thereby acquire higher reimbursement.

Dr. Horner sees the increase in patient volume as the biggest opportunity for ASCs going forward.

“The rapid up-phase in volume will be in 2014 when people are signing up for new insurance plans,” Dr. Horner said. “ASCs should take advantage and prepare for that volume. You won’t realize the volume if you don’t have some way to get the word out, and physicians have to be active in doing so.”
