Twisted Roots offers Wine discounts for all Active and Retired Military throughout Veterans Day weekend

Veterans Day began as Armistice Day, acknowledging the first anniversary of the end of World War I.

Carmel Valley, CA, October 22, 2019 - Veterans Day began as Armistice Day, acknowledging the first anniversary of the end of World War I. Congress passed a resolution in 1926 for an annual observance, and Nov. 11 became a national holiday beginning in 1938.

It’s a somber date intended to honor and thank military personnel — particularly living veterans — who served the country in all wars.

To honor the commitment and sacrifice of our veterans, Twisted Roots Winery is offering a 30 percent discount on purchases for all active and retired military (both in the tasting room and online orders) throughout Veterans Day weekend. The winery’s Carmel Valley tasting room will be closed on Saturday, Nov. 9, but veterans can go online and use the coupon code THANKYOU to earn the discount.

On Veterans Day weekend, Twisted Roots will also send a thank you gift to Specialist Five James C. McCloughan, a combat medic in Vietnam who earned the Medal of Honor for his service with Company C, 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 196th Light Infantry Brigade, Americal Division (March 1969 to March 1970). McCloughan served with Mike Hodge, the father of Twisted Roots co-owner Julie Ruiz.

Known for its Old Vine Zinfandel from the highly regarded Lodi Appellation, Twisted Roots also makes award-winning Cabernet, Petite Sirah, Chardonnay, Blanc de Blanc, Traditional Brut and Sparkling Brut Rosé. For something different, try the Twisted Roots light, crisp hard cider made from a unique combination of five apple varieties.

Twisted Roots’ newly renovated tasting room in Carmel Valley offers a unique wine-tasting experience — either inside or under the sun on the outdoor patio. Located at 12 Del Fino Place in Carmel Valley, the tasting room is open noon to 5 p.m. from Thursday through Sunday.
