Sign up Today for 2011 Social Media Summit

Social media is a fact of life for millions of people, so the real question is not whether we connect, but where and in what ways we should connect to benefit from online networking’s pluses and avoid its minuses.

Harrisburg, PA, July 13, 2011 -- Social media is a fact of life for millions of people, so the real question is not whether we connect, but where and in what ways we should connect to benefit from online networking’s pluses and avoid its minuses. The proliferation of social media is changing us, raising questions for lawmakers/policy makers/educators, business leaders, leaders and parents alike.

Harrisburg University of Science and Technology will host a series of panel discussions devoted to a variety of social networking topics during the free 2011 Social Media Summit, scheduled for September 14 at the University.

Registration is now open for the free event, which brings together a diverse group of topics and speakers to examine the far-reaching impact of social networks on politics, parenting, entrepreneurship, training and education, world affairs, and the local news.

Topics during the day-long event include: Using Social Networks for Training and Education: Social Networking and the Job Search; Social Media & Legal Issues for Employers; Parenting the Facebook Generation; Social Media and Political Change; Social Networks and the Military; Social Networks and the Life Sciences; Unplugged: Disconnecting from Social Media; and The Future of Social Networking: 140 Characters at a Time.

This event is ideal for parents, budding journalists, corporate leaders, advocates, non-profit groups, military personnel, HR directors and managers, business owners, college students and others who wish to think about the impact of social media beyond marketing and brand building.
