2012 Global State of Information Security Survey® Released – Global Leaders Realizing the Importance of Cyber Security on the Cloud

The Global State of Information Security Survey explores critical factors of the effectiveness of IT and cloud storage security.

Penticton, British Columbia/Framingham, Mass, September 28, 2011 - According to the survey, 72 percent of respondents polled in the Global State of Information Security Survey (over 9600 in 138 countries), feel confident in their organizations’ IT security. This is a marked decline over years passed and given the onslaught of corporate security breaches and the recent media attention it’s received, this comes as no surprise.

According to Mark Lobel with PwC’s Advisory practice, "Companies now have greater insights than ever before into the landscape of cyber crime and other security events - and they're translating this information into investments specifically focused on three areas: prevention, detection and operational web-related technologies."

The survey indicates that cloud computing, although on the rise, is more complicated than ever. Polling indicates that 40% of those surveyed have turned to cloud storage as a part of their business plan. “The largest perceived risk is the uncertain ability to enforce provider security policies.”

With corporations all over the globe shining the spotlight and putting more money and resources toward information security, individuals should take note and begin to take cloud storage security into their own hands.

theLocBox, a new utility conceived by Doug Oucharek and Stephen Joyce, has been designed with this user in mind, no longer willing to place the security of their private documents in the hands of the cloud storage provider. theLocBox places an additional layer of user generated, military grade security between the user and the cloud storage facility, essentially placing the keys to their secure data in the hands of the user.

According to Oucharek, “the current security environment dictated a need for theLocBox. More individuals, small businesses and corporations are turning to cloud storage than ever – it’s cost effective. But you need to feel safe that your hard earned work product is secure. Enter theLocBox.”

Adds Joyce, “Online global collaboration is the new way to do business. We work in a virtual space with individuals from all over the world, which brings a whole new level to what we can accomplish. But given this global push, we need a secure virtual workplace.”
