David A. Gibb Book on Colonel Russell Williams Optioned for Film Adaptation

An upcoming book by David A.Gibb entitled, Camouflaged Killer: The Shocking Double Life of Canadian Air Force Colonel Russell Williams, has now been optioned for film production by Dick Lowry of Richard Lowry Productions Inc. of Montreal.

Montreal/Toronto, September 26, 2011 - Penguin Group (Canada) and Dick Lowry of Richard Lowry Productions Inc. announced today that David A. Gibb’s upcoming book, Camouflaged Killer: The Shocking Double Life of Canadian Air Force Colonel Russell Williams, will be adapted into a motion picture.

Development on the project is set to start immediately with production expected to follow next year. Lowry is best known for his Emmy-nominated mini-series, To Catch a Killer, which starred Brian Dennehy as serial killer John Wayne Gacy.

Now with the screen adaptation of Camouflaged Killer, Lowry is set to delve into the crime that shocked the Canadian military to its core.

“Since Robert Louis Stevenson’s Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, the public has been fascinated by characters with duality of personality—Col. Williams, a revered leader on one hand, a killer on the other, is one of those characters,” observed Lowry. “Based on David’s book, I intend to bring to the screen a memorable, if not frightening and insightful look at the man behind the crimes.”

Canadian Air Force Colonel Russell Williams once commanded the largest air force base in the country, and was one of the most respected and trusted soldiers in the military. Never forgetting a name, face, or the birthdays of those who worked under him, he was the poster boy for the Canadian military, and the speed with which he rose through the ranks reflected this. No one had the slightest clue that behind this façade a sexual deviant was quickly escalating from breaking and entering to rape and murder.

In this new analysis of the shocking true story of Russell Williams, investigator David A. Gibb uncovers previously unknown information into the man who personally piloted dignitaries, prime ministers, and members of the British royal family. Offering a fresh perspective, with extensive details on Williams’s background and the crimes that led to his capture, confession, and conviction, Gibb delves deep into the psychology behind the serial killer. Thoroughly researched, and with the support of well-respected psychologists, profilers, and forensic investigators, Camouflaged Killer documents the disturbing account of how one of Canada’s highest-ranking military officers—a seemingly normal and responsible man—became one of Canada’s most notorious criminals.
